The internet on Tuesday mocked Vice President JD Vance for patting his wife’s knee during her podcast. Second lady Usha Vance hosted her husband for a special Father’s Day edition of her series “Storytime with the Second Lady.” The couple read “Winnie the Pooh” and discussed their family dynamics — and expecting their fourth child together. But one moment stood out — and social media commentators were quick to discuss it.
Really? Could he be any more stereotypical white male? Come on, now, patting his wife’s knee? One would think that we are beyond that now (although “traditional” men and women and marriage are having a resurgence. YUCK. Absolutely not. But, you do you.) Usha Vance handled it very graciously by ignoring it.
“The face Usha Vance makes when JD touches her knee is a cry for help if I’ve ever seen one,” Democratic strategist and entrepreneur Mike Nellis wrote on X. //// “I have never in my entire life of reluctant heterosexuality had a man slap my knee like that. You can’t convince me these people know each other’s coffee orders let alone have been intimate together,” user Casey, who identifies as a teacher and political scientist with more than 12,000 followers, wrote on X.
Vance is going to get bitch-slapped after this one, or we can hope he does. What a thing to do! He’s so blatantly patronizing it’s ridiculous. Usha is not a child, but it looks like JD thinks so. As one commenter stated, they seemingly don’t know each other’s coffee orders. Does she have to stay home with the kids unless JD needs her on his arm? She’s a lawyer, also, for complex civil litigation work. It appears that she did substantially better than JD did in school, too. What is wrong with him?

And much laughter ensues! Because JD Vance = moron. This guy seems to be just as bad at home as he is as a VP. Usha Vance has more talent than JD ever will. Maybe it really is love since she is pregnant with their fourth (!!!!) child. But Knee-Slap-Gate, or should it be Knee-Pat-Gate? Whichever you choose, spread it far and wide, because it needs to become a thing, if only for a little bit of Springfield getting their own back on him. He deserves it.
