It’s so much fun to follow the bread crumbs and see where the trail leads. This is pure comedy. Joe Tacopina, who is one of Donald Trump’s attorneys in his New York case, hasn’t donated a lot of money to political campaigns but he has donated some. His second largest donation ever, $1,500, was to Kathleen Rice, a New York representative and a Democrat, who brought a criminal referral against Trump right after his phone calls to officials in Georgia asking them to “find,” read fabricate, over 11,000 votes.
That would prove a clear inference that Tacopina approved of Rice’s gesture, or that he approved of her character and should have known she’s be anti-Trump, and boy, when the Orange One hears that, good luck Joe. The Intercept:
Tacopina’s often colorful defense of the former president enjoys Trump’s enthusiastic support but has drawn criticism from other sources, including Trump’s own legal team. Last month, Tacopina got in a heated altercation with MSNBC host Ari Melber over Trump’s hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, culminating in an attempt by Tacopina to grab Melber’s papers during an interview.
Trump’s other attorneys have expressed frustration with Tacopina’s “antics,” Rolling Stone reported this weekend.
“Tacopina is to the defense bar what Donald Trump is to real estate … clever but focused on his image,” the New York Times reported in 2005, long before Tacopina began representing Trump.
And here’s where it gets more comical. Tacopina’s choice of clients before Trump was quite interesting. If this was a novel, this would be the foreshadowing of the upcoming Tacopina/Trump alliance.
Tacopina’s penchant for flashy suits once prompted the foreman in a trial in which he was defending a mob-linked bookkeeper to remark, “The lawyer’s wearing $2,000 suits and I wouldn’t be surprised if the mob is paying for the defense.”
Tacopina, who began his career working on mob boss John Gotti’s case when he was in law school, has said that today he refuses to take mob money. “I probably gave up a couple million in fees just last year, turning this stuff down,” Tacopina lamented to GQ in a 2007 interview. “But I just won’t do it anymore.”
He wouldn’t do it until Trump, whom Rupert’s tabloid compared to John Gotti, took out his checkbook. Morality is quite a relative thing for some people. Generally speaking, when the $$$$ signs get numerous enough, a way to bend the rules of conscience is found. Tacopina is a match for Trump.
I still can’t wait to see what miracles, if any, Todd Blanche is able to perform. Keep a sharp eye out for that.

Hoo boy! And here we go. CNN is announcing that Judge Merchan donated money, although nominal amount to the Biden campaign is talking about conflict of interest. But apparently a certain Scotus judge, whose wife participated in the scheme to overturn an election can accept millions of dollars and travel from a primary republican donor for 2 decades and that’s just fine. Was that the price for his silence on the bench for so long?
Oops,I meant “in” travel.
I think you hit on the main factor. Either this guy needed some serious money from a client or was able to wrangle a retainer so “Yuge” that even if it meant playing the fool for Trump it was worth it. However, with the other members of Team Trump out for his ass they are probably falling all over themselves to let Trump know about this. I doubt he’ll be working for Trump for very much longer.
This is perfect. Trump likes to do the wannabe mob boss and now he has a wannabe, or maybe really be, mob lawyer. Let’s see how this explodes in TFG’s face. lmao
The mob has been a successful crime corporation even with RICO laws for quite some time. All you need is a corrupt judge, a corrupt lawyer and a bought off jurist and crimes just dissappear.
Funny how things work…
