It’s gonna be a helluva day. I knew it last week when there was a flyer in my apartment door saying the water would be shut off – again! So there was that. Since then we’ve been treated to lots of news about a status hearing with Judge “Loose” Cannon regarding Trump’s Florida trial. Lots of reading of tea leaves for something that hasn’t happened yet but when I woke up I figured it was going to be a long day as news of who said what (including and especially Cannon) came out in dribs and drabs.
But a few minutes ago while channel surfing I decided to watch some Morning Joe, and have to admit his interviews with people who made the about to be released Oppenheimer movie were interesting. Then the news broke that Trump has announced he’s gotten a NEW Target Letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith.
For the January 6 case!
They even said he claims something about being told to be ready to “report” (?) within four days! Of course, this all needs to be taken with a grain of salt this morning. Especially the four days part. Trump might be conflating/blowing up a “please acknowledge receipt of this notice” and/or “please respond to the following…” (requests for schedules, filings etc.) with being arrested and arraigned. Again.
Still, I doubt Trump would have announced getting a Target Letter (Sunday night he says) if that much at least isn’t true. It also means that he is in fact going to be charged in connection with the events leading up to and on January 6, and that’s going to happen fairly soon. Maybe not in days, but weeks.
Here’s a question to ponder – what effect might this have on today’s hearing in Florida? Judge Cannon might be having an “Oh sh*t!” moment, realizing that she’s about to start facing comparisons with an experienced federal judge, who will have to oversee a much more complex trial and looking really, really foolish and incompetent. Let’s face it. While in recent days I’m hearing hand wringing about how “complicated” the Florida case is, the plain fact is that for all those indictments it’s still narrowly focused. One, just ONE issue – breaking laws designed to protect our National Security by illegally taking, holding on to, and trying to hide classified information he stole. And possibly sharing it. If Cannon buys into Trump Lawyer b.s. about clearances and such she’ll get slapped down (and HARD) again on appeal. The legal niceties of procedure for trials of this sort have been long established.
Cannon surely knows by now another set of federal charges is coming and coming soon and if she was planning on helping Trump this is just the kind of curveball she didn’t need. Especially today.
So strap in tight folks. As I said it’s gonna be a helluva day!

It would interesting to see trump’s calendar. You almost need a spreadsheet to keep track of them all. He’s got:
– NY case for falsifying business records (indicted on 34 counts)
– Florida case for mishandling classified documents and espionage (indicted on 37 counts)
– Jan 6 case for insurrection (named as target, indictments possibly as early as August)
– Georgia state case for election fraud (indictments expected in about two weeks)
– Civil suit by Jean Carroll for defamation (second edition, cleared to proceed)
– Civil suit by Michael Cohen for recovery of $1 million in unpaid fees (cleared to proceed)
– Civil suit by NY for fraudulent real estate valuations (headed to trial in Oct.)
– Civil suit by Catherine McKoy et al. against Trump family for fraud in Celebrity Apprentice (headed to trial in Jan 2024)
– Several other civil suits for copyright infringement, non-payment, fraud, etc.
And these are just the actions against trump. He has a list of lawsuits he has launched, including those against Mary Trump, and Michael Cohen. Then there is the pending de-listing of Truth Social and potential bankruptcy of the company, with the possibility of criminal charges related to securities fraud.
How is trump going to run a campaign with his calendar jammed with court appearances and sessions with his legal teams?
Great list – only expected to grow. The E. Jean Carroll amended case for sexual battery and defamation seeking $10 million also has a trial date set: January 15, 2024; and the DOJ has reversed course/withdrawn in defending Trump on the amended defamation counts.
I bet Trump wishes he had never run for President . LOL …
Hmm. Does that some cities are going to get paid for services rendered into trump and his campaign? Or is there going to be a big line to get any money? One wonders…
Is it just me or does the above photo look.like a constipated toddler throwing a tantrum?
and is there anyone who could do.A caricature of Gay Donnie as a Southern Belle in a hoop skirt and ring let’s lying on the ground pitching a hissy fit a la Scarlett O’Hara with Clarence Thomas done up as Many and Alito as Rhett Butler?
Take anything he announces with a YUGE grain of salt.
Was the announcement accompanied by a donation link?
Aren’t ALL his announcements also doubling as grift?
Hopefully all of the following are going to hold accountable that blusterous, conceited, arrogant, traitorous mango for his dirty deeds, and two-finger drop-volley him into a purpose-built cell, as outlined by Jamie Raskin:
18 U.S.C.1512 (c) … Obstruction of an Official Proceeding
18 U.S.C. 371 … Conspiracy to Defraud the United States
18 U.S.C. 371, 1001 … Conspiracy to Make a False Statement
18 U.S.C. 2383 … Incite, Assist or Aid or Comfort an Insurrection
Just noting: No “Read more” overlay here at this time.
Knowing Trump’s barely passing affinity with the truth, I wonder if he actually received a ‘target’ letter or if this is another ‘pay my legal fees’ scam?
