Remember the 50’s movie, “This Island Earth” where the hero and heroine are taken by the alien back to his home world of Metaluna? And remember seeing the bombs rain down on Metaluna, without ceasing for a moment, until the planet finally explodes spectacularly? That is the state of Republican politics in this country right now. The bombs keep dropping, hour after hour, day after day.

Today’s bombshell du jour was Lindsey Graham, announcing that the United States would “join the world” with respect to abortion, which he translated as meaning that “the world” had determined that a fetus can feel pain at 15 weeks ergo we should join the world and institute a nationwide abortion ban at that point.

If you read the latest New York Times article it states there is no scientific consensus on whether or when a fetus can feel pain. Nobody knows where Graham is getting this from. Is he getting spirit messages from beyond? What?

And as far as WHY, oh my God. You’ve read pieces all day and you will read more tomorrow, I assure you, on the why.

That’s one theory. Graham is purposely helping the Democrats, okey doke. And why might he be doing that?

Truth be known, the best speculation that I’ve seen so far has been by our own Durrati, just a few hours ago.

I was wondering earlier today if drumpf is reading the polls also and see his losers are losing and decided to use his lap poodle Lindsey Graham to manufacture an excuse for the loss of The Senate and, happily, take down Mitch at the same time…

McConnell looked like he was swallowing a battery acid cocktail when asked about Lindsey earlier…

Look, I’m going with that in lieu of anything better. It’s a theory that fits the facts.

The facts are simple:

  1. Blake Masters is in trouble. Just today the Arizona GOP asked Mitch McConnell for his support and funding. No response, last I knew. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
  2. J.D. Vance is in trouble. Peter Thiel and Mitch McConnell are pouring money there, trying to keep Tim Ryan at bay;
  3. Mehmet Oz is in trouble. You’ve read the recent piece here, probably, about how his donations are drying up and he’s trailing John Fetterman by eleven points;
  4. Herschel Walker is in a statistical tie with Raphael Warnock. The race is labelled a toss up.

All four are Trump supported and only Walker is in a decent position at this point.

Could Trump have dreamt this up and made Graham do it? Or, Graham has his own reasons? And what might they be?

  1. I say again that we are watching panic do its usual work here. In this instance, Stone is panicking because Graham just likely destroyed any chances of him getting from under the metric ton of crap that is about to land on him. Conversely, Graham is panicking because he’s watching his party’s chances of getting back into power slip away too, which means he’s now vulnerable in ways he’s never been.

    One final real talk note: THIS is how too many of us have been acting vis-a-vis Trump while pretending that we were “vigiliant” instead of scared shitless over old ghosts. Let what Graham be the real lesson…the sycophants still in office remain the REAL threat. So let’s act like it with what we do in the run-up to the midterms.

  2. Trump couldn’t win a game of checkers with a six year old. Reaction is his game. I tend to agree that the quarry that are hiding out are hearing the hounds closing in. They had four years of blanket protection and that is gone. Remember they are cowards at heart. They bluster like the middle school kid who’s daddy is the principle & has a mean big brother who’s a bully. Once daddy is fired and bro gets busted, they feel vulnerable. Lindseypoo is a hamster who lost his cage & is scurrying around looking for a hole to dive into. On the other hand the daughter of a war criminal, who she still defends, while he dodged all responsibility, has more bad intentions hidden in her bag, & now has temporarily wrapped herself in the flag. Let’s also not forget the nazi leader in the nursing home and reptile sanctuary known as florida. They are real threats. Frumpy will be on double secret probation if big macs & the chicken colonel haven’t taken him down by then.
