This is a good one. He said something he shouldn’t have and gave away the game. We all know Trump is full of it, but JD is damn close on that level. He’s done some things that really angered a large number of people. His treatment of Zelenskyy is the first one that comes to mind. But we won’t get started on that. From AlterNet:
With the partial shutdown of the United States’ federal government dragging on after more than a month, Democrats are applauding a judge’s ruling that orders the federal government to continue paying Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits — shutdown and all. Vice President JD Vance, meanwhile, is attacking the judge.
That’s not bright. JD isn’t anywhere near the level of training a judge is. It still boggles the mind that this idiot is our “vice president”. He has better things to do with his time than go after a judge. Well, idiots rule the US. Hmmm. What’s going to happen to JD if Trump manages to make himself king? We can bet he hasn’t thought about *that*. But anyhow. Here ya go.
CNN’s Aaron Blake, in a Friday, November 7 post on X, formerly Twitter, reports, “Vance on judge’s ruling that admin must fully fund SNAP: ‘The president and the entire administration are working on that, but we’re not going to do it under the orders of a federal judge. We’re going to do it according to what we think we have to do to comply with the law.'”
BOOM. There it is. They’re going to take their own sweet time in paying out *anything*. We know it won’t be the full amount, not now or possibly ever. JD doesn’t care about hungry children. Trump *really* doesn’t care, even though it includes his MAGA base. One of these days, they are going to bust wide open.
Dammit. We had some hope that it was going to happen. The judge said full SNAP benefits within 24 hours. Well, the ruling is being ignored. JD gave away the game. This is horrifying. Our “Vice President” said they are going to ignore the judge’s ruling. What the hell can be done now to make the administration comply?
The SNAP ruling came from U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell Jr., based in Rhode Island. The federal government has been partially shut down since October 1, with GOP and Democratic lawmakers unable to reach an agreement on a spending bill. As a result, the U.S. is seeing long lines and flight cancellations at airports. And SNAP recipients, with their benefits cut off, are turning to food banks for help. McConnell, however, ruled that regardless of the shutdown, the government has no business cutting SNAP benefits off.
Even the smallest ray of hope has been rained on. Cue much cursing. The spending bill “issue”? Democrats aren’t budging on ACA credits. The Republicans don’t want to bring them back. And people of America are hungry because the administration has cut off their benefits. And they don’t care. What can we do? Ideas are welcome. What a bunch of hooey. What a bunch of bullshizzle.
[EDIT] CBB says breaking news: the administration is going to comply with the judge’s order. Show us the proof, Trump and co. We’ll believe it when we see it.
[EDIT the 2nd] Trump asks Supreme Court to step into fight over food stamp benefits. Good grief! Guess we should have seen it coming. They may back away from this one…we hope.
