The video you’re about to see is from the Lincoln Project and they pull no punches. In three generations no Trump has ever served in the military and Barron will be generation number four. It’s more than coincidence that Trumps never serve. They can spew platitudes about service but when it comes down to it, they’re cowards.
Trump is just fine with starting a war for your kid or grandkid, not so much when it comes down to his own family roost. This war is not over, there’s just a tempory pause before Trump creates another distraction.

Trump claiming no one’s ever seen bone spurs like the ones he had is one of those rare time he tells the truth, albeit not in the way he thinks. No one HAS ever seen his bone spurs that got him declared physically unfit for military service. He never had the fucking things hence no one could see them! Don Jr. and Eric were of age during Baby Bush’s war but of course never signed up. Barron? Not a chance in hell Trump would have to threaten to disown him as he did when Don Jr. made his hollow threat to enlist. Melania would NEVER allow Barron to try. Nor I’m sure would he ever give her reason to go to her P.O.S. hubby and keep Barron out of the military. Worse than Mary Todd Lincoln was about son Robert serving during the Civil war.
Baby Bush had daughters and while combat adjacent roles were available for women neither signed up to say be helicopter pilots where they might fly missions over hostile territory. Clinton I don’t bust on for being a Chicken Hawk because although it grates on me he used deferments to avoid service during Vietnam he always openly admitted he’d worked the system to avoid military service. At least he was honest about it. Nixon had daughters, who during Vietnam couldn’t have been deployed in any combat role although they might have gotten nursing degrees and served relatively close to the action. However his son-in-law who would go on to become Gov. of Virginia and a U.S. Senator Chuck Robb was a Marine Captain who commanded a rifle company. Westmorland and Nixon didn’t want him anywhere NEAR Vietnam but he raised hell and was finally allowed to deploy with his company into action. He was “ass in the grass” for over five months and saw plenty of front line combat before superiors who trembled at the thought of him being killed, or worse captured (the gomers knew generally where he was and sure as hell tried) and got him transferred to a staff job in Saigon. Given who he was I can see the concern (and in time he probably did too) about the extra risk his presence in the field posed not to just his own company but others in his battalion. Chuck was a DEMOCRAT for those of you who don’t know.
Eisenhower’s son John only graduated from West Point a the time of the Normandy landings. His superiors freaked out over the notion of him serving on the front lines and Ike allowed them to keep John away from combat. However he would see combat during the Korean War as his pops was running for President!
All four of FDR’s sons served in WWII. The oldest, James served in my Marine Corps much to his mother’s dismay. Not that she felt her sons should be spared, it’s just she looked down on the Corps like a blue-blood Navy wife. James served in a Marine Raider unit and took part in the raid on Makin. Among the decorations he earned during the war was a Navy Cross. (the only higher award in the Naval Service is the Medal of Honor) Son Eliot flew bombing missions over Europe – a dangerous and deadly task. Bomber groups sustained heavy losses in both the European and Pacific theaters. Franklin Jr. served in the Navy and took part in various operations. He too would receive a Navy Cross. The youngest son John also served in the Navy during WWII.
Speaking of WWII, Teddy Roosevelt Jr. caused a stink that forced command to allow him to lead his division ashore in the first wave at Normandy. Despite his arthritis he trained with his men and as he put it they had a right to see their commanding general with them just like any other General when they hit the beach, former President’s son or not. They were put ashore way the hell from where they were supposed to be and faced with the choice of trying to find where the rest of his men were he famously planted his cane in the sand and said ‘We’re going to start the war right here’ – the rest of the division could find HIM and the group he landed with. He served with distinction for about a month when he suddenly died not from enemy fire but a heart attack.
Other top politicians and advisors saw sons serve in WWII and not all survived. One who did was the son of a leading Senator by the name of Prescott Bush. Yep, George H.W. Bush got age requirements waived so he could be a Naval Aviator and fly in combat in WWII. He barely escaped capture at sea when his plane got shot down. A U.S. sub was just a bit closer to where he went down than a Japanese ship headed to capture him.
Of course as we know things changed with Vietnam. Other than Chuck Robb sons of top elected and appointed officials were kept well away from action, if they were in the service at all. Baby Bush and Dan Quayle jumped waiting lists to secure spots in the Guard/Reserves. Unless you’re an old fart like me you don’t know that back then THAT was the best way to avoid getting sent to Vietnam. Westmorland knew there would be PR problems back home and didn’t want the evening news showing Guard/Reserve units on parade decks at deployment ceremonies, or signficant numbers of wounded and dead returning to small town America armories.
Anyway, we wouldn’t be stuck with Trump had his coward of a grandfather fled Bavaria so as not to have to do his mandatory military service. No one on the Trump side of the family starting with that guy has ever served. Nor it should be noted has anyone on his mom’s side. Finally, for talk about Trump’s sons he’s got two daughters and during their lives a serious, fulfilling career or at least a stint in the armed forces including some combat roles or close support at least was an option. Ask Sen. Tammy Duckworth and others.
Trump and his family view service to this country as beneath them. For people I’ve known much of my life who defend Trump and claim his suckers and losers comments are fake news I point out the facts of the LACK of service going back literally generations in that family. It really pisses them off when I force them to face the truth.
Trump is looking forward to meeting King Charles III, to bask in the respect and gravitas of the Royal Family.
Which they’ve earned in service, Charle’s mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, having done more military service by herself, than five generations of Trumps in total.

Just a nitpick, Ursula, but Barron is not “generation number four.” That honor already began with Uday and Qusay–I mean, Don Jr and Eric.
Generation #1 was #DrowsyDonnie’s grandfather,the Bavarian/German draft dodger Friedrich. Generation #2 was #DrowsyDonnie’s dad, Fred. Generation #3 is #DrowsyDonnie (his siblings as well but they’re not really pertinent to the current issue). And Generation #4 is the demonic spawn of #DrowsyDonnie and the women recipients of his sperm donations.
Barron’s cousins would comprise Generation #5, including Kai the Golfing Phenom who had to beg Grandfather to get in a golf tournament (thereby stealing the slot from someone who deserved the spot based on true MERIT).
Are there any boy cousins in Gen. #5? Are they of military age? Also, I heard this evening on NPR that the draft is being reinstated later this year.
