And Donnie is very crabby about the Republicans who dared tell him this. If only we could have more of them act like this. Is that too much to hope for? Probably. We can still hope. Trump needed an excuse to get out of this war. They (and Democrats, of course) just gave him one. But Trump got ridiculously angry. He’s a child with the nuclear codes. He’s a glory hound. He’s pitiful. Complain, complain, complain. Respect to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump raged at the four “bad Republicans” who voted with the Democratic minority to end his war against Iran. The 79-year-old president lashed out Wednesday morning after the Iran war powers resolution passed 215-208 in the GOP-led House after Republicans Tom Barrett of Michigan, Warren Davidson of Ohio, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Massie of Kentucky joined Democrats in the vote.
There are a couple of new names in there. Not sure we’ve seen them at all. They’re not immediately recognizable. That’s interesting. Are more Republicans growing spines? And again, will they keep them? The problem is they add onto something once and then fade back into the shadows. Looking at Thom Tillis and John Cornyn, who are apparently just hiding. They should want to figuratively thumb their noses at Trump. But we aren’t them, so until they do something- if they ever act- we’ll find out then. The other one that is surprising because he’s not there is Rand Paul. Apparently, we have to wait and see.
“Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, 4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the War with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Who would do such an unpatriotic thing?”
“They know where the negotiations stand. The Democrats are fueled by Trump Derangement Syndrome,” the president added. “They would rather have our Country fail than give me another, of many, victories. The four Republicans, that’s a whole other story – They’re GRANDSTANDERS! They should be ashamed of themselves.”
Negotiations? Since when? Last we knew, Iran had broken off talks because of Israel, and we have been lobbing bombs back and forth, first us, then Iran, and so on and so forth. This may be an error, but seriously, Iran won’t come back until Israel stops attacking Iran and Lebanon, which they refuse to do. This would be the perfect excuse to end the war. But he won’t look at it that way because he considers it a personal insult (heh, when doesn’t he), so he will spend energy ranting. If you think about it, the energy he uses on Truth Social crap could have been used in a much more productive fashion. Well, it would be productive for almost anyone who isn’t named Trump.
The resolution calls on the president to withdraw U.S. troops from hostilities with Iran unless Congress votes to declare war or authorizes military force, but it does not require him to end the conflict.
He can still back off enough into international waters, rest, and regroup. Maybe change out some of the ships with people who have been out there about forever. We would need to ask Pz’s very own Denis for information. These are just guesses. How many of those ships should be somewhere else? There’s still the munitions issue because we have been told that the Iran War has used a *lot* of Tomahawks. Ugh, and so on and so forth, but from me they are just guesses, so there’s only one perspective from a civilian who has not been in the Armed Forces. My brother was, but it’s difficult to ask him questions because he is a huge Trump fan. We would argue, so I don’t ask. It’s better that way.
So Trump is screaming and crying about a bill that passed that doesn’t actually force him to do anything. Well, it means he needs to back off. The war is at a stalemate. Negotiations are nonexistent. But even if we back off, Israel won’t, and that means the Strait of Hormuz stays closed. This has gone on far too long. It’s hurting us, and it’s hurting the world. Iran is holding everyone hostage. Israel keeps bombing Hezbollah in Lebanon. How in the hell is it even going to stop?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
