Heh. We all wondered if it was going to happen. The Supreme Court may strike down one of his “signature” programs. It’s all about tariffs. Trump Does Not Like the idea. Well, there are a LOT of people thinking it’s about time they did so, instead of giving him everything he wants (see: SNAP block and absolute immunity). We’re giving Raw Story another chance:

President Donald Trump erupted Sunday at the Supreme Court as its increasingly skeptical justices weigh in on the president’s authority to impose sweeping tariffs. “So, let’s get this straight??? The President of the United States is allowed (and fully approved by Congress!) to stop ALL TRADE with a Foreign Country (Which is far more onerous than a Tariff!), and LICENSE a Foreign Country, but is not allowed to put a simple Tariff on a Foreign Country, even for purposes of NATIONAL SECURITY,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “That is NOT what our great Founders had in mind!”

Ha. As if he cares about the founders and our Constitution. He doesn’t unless it serves his ends. It doesn’t matter if the *country* depends on it. Did Congress really give it to him? Or did he take it like he normally does? Either one is bad. And 200% or more is *not* a “simple” tariff. But that’s what democracy is about, you fool. We have the right to make choices. The Supreme Court might actually do something right for a change.

Trump believes tariffs bring money into the country, but they actually don’t. It’s taxes. Our economy is doing well. No, it isn’t. This man has an ego the size of the moon. But he’s a two-year-old when he doesn’t get his way, howling, screaming, and stomping his feet. Apparently, even Susie can’t keep him under control anymore. Anything that goes against him *has* to be wrong, yes? He is out of control and “demented.” Or should that be “dementia-ed”? Ha.

The Supreme Court first heard arguments for and against Trump’s authority to impose tariffs last week, and a majority of the justices expressed skepticism at the Trump administration’s position, a skepticism that saw online betting platforms predict the court would strike down Trump’s signature trade policy. Trump has grown increasingly panicked at the possibility of the Supreme Court striking down his tariffs, warning that the United States “could be reduced to almost Third World status” should the court rule against him. And on Sunday, that panic appeared to evolve into rage as Trump lashed out at the court online.

Dude needs to learn not to assume. … Yes, that made me laugh, too. We all know he will because of that “I am King” ego *rolls eyes*. The best part is that he actually seems to be panicking, and he lashes out. We know the Supreme Court *isn’t* apolitical, but sheesh, guy, don’t bite the hand that feeds. With any luck, his ranting will just turn them further against him, and it will be about time! To close:

Trump has grown increasingly panicked at the possibility of the Supreme Court striking down his tariffs, warning that the United States “could be reduced to almost Third World status” should the court rule against him. And on Sunday, that panic appeared to evolve into rage as Trump lashed out at the court online. “The whole thing is ridiculous! Other Countries can Tariff us, but we can’t Tariff them???” Trump wrote. “It is their DREAM!!! Businesses are pouring into the USA ONLY BECAUSE OF TARIFFS. HAS THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT NOT BEEN TOLD THIS??? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???”

It’s called the false use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. There is no way anything is happening even close to an emergency. Well, okay, except in his own mind, what’s left of it. Oh, and businesses are most certainly *not* pouring into the country. How’s this for a theory? How about he’s taken all these stretches of the laws to the Supreme Court and is expecting to get his way. But when there’s even a minuscule chance it will go against him, he freaks out. We can hope it will go against him. A slim hope is better than none. Let the man get slapped for once.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Drumpf’s meanderings: “The President of the United States is allowed (and fully approved by Congress!) to stop ALL TRADE with a Foreign Country (Which is far more onerous than a Tariff!), and LICENSE a Foreign Country, but is not allowed to put a simple Tariff on a Foreign Country, even for purposes of NATIONAL SECURITY,”

Um, I don’t quite think the former is correct UNLESS it’s been approved by Congress FIRST. A President (one that actually understands not only the American economy but also that of the global economy) can typically *request* to stop all trade with a foreign country but Congress makes the final decision (Article I, Section 8: “The Congress shall have power . . . to regulate commerce with foreign nations). Another point is that Congress had to approve (most recently) the sanctions imposed on Russia following that country’s illegal invasion of Ukraine (which was almost a mere formality as Congress at that time was nearly universally appalled at Putin’s actions).

As to what Drumpf could possibly mean by “license a country,” I’m at a loss (and I doubt many economists have any idea). Checking with a search that produced an AI suggestion, it seems something to do with the International Emergency Economic Powers Act but Drumpf would NEED to explain exactly WHAT “international emergency” exists in order to invoke that power (also, under the terms of the Act, the President MUST–by law–inform Congress every six months regarding the current situation and whether any progress has been made that would allow the “emergency” to be lifted; looking at some current incidents that were the cause for IEEPA actions, a lot of them do make sense though some seem as if they should’ve expired–action against Libya, for instance taken in 2011, is specifically against officials and associates of the Gaddafi government which collapsed more than a decade ago though, presumably, some may still be involved in the current rival governments). But, this year, Drumpf has instituted his tariffs by ABUSING the IEEPA. He’s offered no real justifiable “emergency” and the IEEPA doesn’t really seem to lend itself to *tariffs* as an option.
