Seems to me that it’s about time for the Democrats to fight back. To wit, a shouting match. A Democrat stands up and says the quiet part out loud. Yea, it’s about time for a lot of things. We got our own back. He stood up and told a Republican off, and it’s glorious. What took them so long? (Maxwell Frost picture above)From AlterNet:

A House committee hearing Wednesday erupted into chaos when Rep. Maxwell Frost (D‑Fla.) and Rep. Clay Higgins (R‑La.) engaged in a shouting match so heated that Frost accused Higgins of being a “lapdog” for President Donald Trump, forcing the panel to pause proceedings.

Ha. Hahaha! Ain’t that the truth? The Republicans really are lap dogs. As an example, how about the bloated OBBA, which came back from the Senate with far too much crap on it, that got pushed through? It includes Trump’s tax cuts for the rich, and they are permanent. For the rich. I don’t know if this can be undone.

The confrontation began midway through a session debating law enforcement powers and public safety. Higgins, who is sponsoring a bill expanding police ability to pursue fleeing suspects, was asked by Frost why he had not called up the National Guard in his state, as he had done in the capital. “Louisiana is the state with the second-highest rate of death

in this nation. You’re more likely to be shot standing on a random street in your state than you are in Washington D.C.,” Frost said.

Touche. He pointed out things for the decidedly different balance of assistance for red states vs blue states. And there *is* a difference. Blue states are demonized while red states scream for help – and get it. But we need to look at the whole picture. It’s ugly. It needs to be changed. So, that’s what Rep Frost is pointing out. I am glad someone finally did so.

Later in the back-and-forth, Frost unleashed his barb directly at Higgins, calling him a “lap dog to the president.” “You’re here because you’re lap dogs to the president of the United States,” he said. Reacting to the comments, Higgins demanded his words be expunged. “Words taken down, Mr. Chairman. My colleague just called me a lap dog of the president of the United States. I move for his words to be taken down.”

You can dish it out, but can’t take it? Yea, that sounds like a Republican. Talk the talk but can’t walk the walk. You run away to hide, but we have now seen your hurt fee-fees. Those can’t be unseen. Rep Maxwell Frost has blown the curtain of secrecy apart. Is this an official war? We shall see.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help democracy survive. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

    • Thank you for the lovely comment, and your first one, too! I also support elder care because I’ll be there about the time Social Security runs out of money. We do our best to be informative, and update. Thank you again!

  2. There’s a blizzard of snowflakes in DC. They call themselves Republicans, but like everything they label incorrectly, or mostly LIE ABOUT, they are members of trump’s cult.

  3. To be clear, Susan, the U.S. House shares a parliamentary rule with multitudes of other organizations that prohibits one member from denigrating the character or motives of another member during a meeting of that organization. This rule applies even if every member of that organization believes that the derogatory remark is true and provable in a court of law. So, even if Frost was being absolutely truthful, Higgins absolutely had the right to request that Frost’s words be taken down (removed from the record of the meeting). The media have every right to broadcast the remarks, of course.
