Fascism didn’t come to America wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross. It came when a failed one-term president who wasn’t man enough to admit he lost adopted the insane proposition that he had in fact won, and bigly, but was cheated by a conspiracy of James Bondian proportions and then the entire party decided that it was better to cosign on that lie, nay, to promulgate it, than to admit the truth and move on from the loser.
Now they’re all losers, because the loser of the 2020 election is still their standard bearer.

Rick Wilson said that the craziness of the universe finds it’s way to Florida, or words to that effect. Conflating the January 6 riot at the Capitol to Democrats rightfully and lawfully protesting the fact that two districts had just been wiped out, blacks were disproportionately affected by the redistricting, and that the entire exercise is part of a larger scheme on the part of DeSantis to get four more GOP House seats is just evil. Nothing more, nothing less.
I fear worse. I think democracy, as we understand the term, has already been lost. I fear that unless Democrats message very clearly that the Republicans are trying to convert America into a one-party fascist state, that they will succeed in doing just that.
Whatever you might have thought about the 2016, 2018, or 2020 elections, I feel safe in predicting that 2022 will be a watershed. Either some of these toxic people will be purged from the system or America is going to continue its downhill slide, to what end, I don’t know. I don’t know if it will get to armed conflict, but we can’t have one major political party hell bent on destroying the democratic way of life and not have it get ugly.
As Exhibit “A” to the deep kimchi we are in, witness the fact that Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader of the House, was caught red handed, lying through his teeth. His lie was exposed on national television. In a normal political system, that would have finished his career. It wasn’t even a speed bump.

The media need to stop normalizing everything the GQP does and call it out for what it is.

Well, good thing that call on felony sedition is up to somebody else, isn’t it? Regardless of what happens, I don’t fear a goddamn thing from this crowd.
