It is incredible that something like this is going on in the year 2022, but the roots of racism go back to slavery and they go very deep. What you are about to read was written by the electoral board chair of the Hampton, Virginia Republican party. It goes without saying that his resignation has been asked for after this.
What triggered this? Maybe the appointment of Justice Jackson, who knows? Lloyd Austin has been on the scene for quite a while. He’s a four-star general. He has served honorably. Russel Honore didn’t just appear on radar. But something triggered this redneck in Virginia.
And this event, in and of itself, would not be newsworthy. Would a headline, “Virginia Redneck Posts Racist Screed On Facebook” catch your eye? Probably not. But in the same 48-hour span as a congressman, Matt Gaetz, ripping into Secretary of Defense Austin, and a senator, Josh Hawley, calling for Austin’s resignation, then the screed takes on a different shade of meaning altogether. And if you top those facts off with the image of various pouting and disgruntled GOP senators leaving the senate chamber while the rest of the senate applauded the appointment of Kentanji Brown Jackson, then the picture becomes a dark one indeed.
We may be on the brink of a second Civil War. The racists are restless, that much is clear. I wonder if they remember Rodney King’s admonition, “Can we please just try and get along?” Apparently not. Not if discussion of publicly lynching the Secretary of Defense is being discussed. wow.
I have often wondered where people get off, thinking they can act or speak this way. I thought they must have been raised by heathens. Then I realized that of course, Trump gave them a public example of acting horrendously and now these trombies in public office just continue the bad example publicly.
I am shocked, just shocked. Racists in the republican party.
I tell ya, if we do end up in a second Civil War, I hope this time we finish it better than last time. Drive ol’ Dixie down, way down, so far down they don’t come back up. That quadrant of our country has been nothing but trouble ever since the war. They’ve been a backstabbing, regressive force, doing anything and everything to undermine our democracy and every move we make towards equality for all. Their toxic stew of racism, misogyny, radical xtianity and ignorance makes them a danger to us all, and they are a drag on us/U.S. making any progress. They are banning books, banning education, banning women’s reproductive healthcare, banning voting for all, and fomenting resentment and rebellion. They need to get their shit together and join the 21st century, ffs. If they want to live in the dark ages, then they can damned well move to Afghanistan or some other hell hole where the Taliban rules. They’ll fit right in.
I wonder how Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Silk & Diamond and Senator Tim Scott and Fox News contributor “Dr” Alveda King (among others) are going to respond to this? I mean, the racist piece of scum actually described “white nationalists” as “conservative, freedom-loving Americans” so it’s got to burn these African-Americans who have considered themselves to also be “conservative, freedom-loving Americans.” Or, maybe they won’t really care because they’re happy with their GOP-sanctioned “honorary Aryan” status.
(Just to note–for those who might not get the reference–“honorary Aryan” was a term that the Nazi Party applied to “non-Aryans” who worked with/for the Nazis. Mussolini was an honorary Aryan; the Japanese under Tojo were honorary Aryans; even Joseph Stalin was a short-term honorary Aryan.)
