What’s old is new and what’s new is old. And nothing is older than religion and grifting. That was a match made in Hell long ago, although Jesus himself preached simplicity and sharing amongst a faith-based community above a greedy elite running the churches and living in style. Jackson Lahmeyer, who is a pastor and protege of Michael Flynn, wants to run for the U.S. Senate and in the meantime, he’s hustling a buck selling vaccination exemptions. If you recall your history, the selling of indulgences in the Middle Ages led to all hell breaking loose in organized religion and it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re going to see the same thing today.

Has anybody else noticed that the utter dregs of society, the most corrupt people in our midst, are running for office as Republicans? This guy wants to primary James Lankford, who has been in politics since 2011 and in the U.S. Senate since 2015. He attended seminary school and is an advocate of religious issues and close friends with Mike Pence, reportedly. But that’s not good enough for right-Wingnuttia, apparently, they need to get this far right grifter, Jim Jones wanna be, Lahmeyer, into the mix.
The mind reels contemplating this. As LBJ used to say, come, let us reason together:
- This “church” is pushing vaccine as evil;
- Ergo, you need to avoid the vaccine, with an exemption;
- So you give this guy your money and he gets rich;
- You get the exemption, then COVID and die;
- And he retires — or goes to the Senate — secretly vaccinated and now a rich fat cat?
Is that how this works? Because this is my best thinking on the subject. This is Jonestown 2.0, except the charismatic leader won’t kill himself, he’ll cash in his chips and head for Belize, or someplace else without an extradition treaty.
The worst elements in our society are gathered together under the banner of the far right GOP and they’re going to exploit grievance and distrust with disinformation for their own gain And a lot of people are going to end up dead. I guess it’s Darwin’s Law.
The far right GOP does not exist anymore…they have become the extreme right GQP!!! And religion was invented by man to control his fellow man in the name of God, and grift along the way!
Once again this agnostic is reminded of the verse on the back of the Aqualung Album:

In 200 years 90% of the indigenous population of the Americas died due to diseases for which they had no immunity. How ironic that white people are choosing to kill themselves as our forefathers’ conquests killed the natives, i.e., with disease. Weird.
I think he’s going to find that the government takes a really dim view of selling exemptions.
I want the specific Biblical passage behind “no vaccinations.” I can’t, for the life of me, ever recall an instance where God or Jesus or any of the numerous Prophets or Patriarchs mention anything about “vaccine” or “vaccination.” (Of course, the very concept didn’t exist in any of those people’s eras but you’d think an all-knowing, all-seeing God would’ve mentioned something about that–but He didn’t even tell Moses about kangaroos and whether they should be kosher or not; you’d think if Noah gathered all those animals, He would’ve mentioned kangaroos.)
I’m tired of religious groups getting any kind of exemptions for ANYTHING just under the aegis of “religious freedom.” But seeing as the Bible is ABSOLUTELY SILENT on many contemporary matters, religious groups seeking exemptions from vaccination should be required to show literal Biblical book, chapter and verse before they get the exemption (and have a group of religious scholars analyze the verse or verses to determine if there’s a valid rationale). Maybe these (I’m going to say it) morons need to have their electricity cut off and lose their driver’s licenses and disconnect them from public water services. They don’t get the right to pick and choose. If certain aspects of science can pass muster with their “deeply held religious beliefs,” then other aspects of science should pass muster as well.
The ONLY allowable exemption should be based on allergies; if the particular vaccine includes elements to which an individual may be allergic, then they get an exemption. But if the vaccine includes 1 strand of pig or cow DNA (for whatever reason), then no–no exemption for it.
Of course. The Bible isn’t a scientific journal. These assholes piss on it daily. There should be NO EXEMPTIONS for vaccinations etc.
Why pay for an exemption? Just don’t get vaccinated.
No one is forcing you and you will be just as dead.
You’ll be able to leave more money to your heirs.
Unless they too are anti-vaxxers, in which case they’ll die too.
