The Rubicon has sadly been crossed and we’re now into a new era of American politics. If anybody knows of a situation where a secretary of state has been censured for doing his job and upholding the rule of law, please speak out. None leap to mind.
The Georgia state GOP passed a resolution Saturday censuring secretary of state Brad Raffensperger for “dereliction of his constitutional duty” under the constitution of the State of Georgia and “fecklessness.”

Trump is the political singularity that brought the lunatic fringe elements of the Republican party out into the center and now it looks like the process is unstoppable.
The issue with Brad Raffensperger goes way beyond him or his career. The issue is that there is a significant sect in the GOP that is only too happy to throw the constitution and the rule of law overboard in service of a fascist personality cult. Raffensperger has shown himself to be a decent public servant, someone who has done his job competently. There is no basis for this censure other than revenge.
This is no different than the persecution of cybersecurity chief Christopher Krebs or any number of others. A purge is taking place in the GOP. We have truly crossed the Rubicon.

As for other stuff, let me tactlessly remind you of a couple of things. Al Franken and Anthony Weiner were run out of office by the Democratic Party. Compare that to Roy Moore for whom there IS independent evidence of trying to fuck underage teens and the GOP backed him for Jeff Session’s old seat in the Senate. Matt “sugar daddy isn’t prostitution (bullshit – it’s a fancier version but still paying for sex!) hasn’t been driven out of the GOP either. Then there’s Trump himself who has PUBLICY expressed his desire to screw his own freaking daughter! And cheated on “Melanie” by fucking adult stars. And bragged about getting away with grabbing pussies because he’s famous and who the hell knows just what all he’s done. Oh, and he tacitly admitted to being okay with Epstein’s proclivity for underage girls! Some “family values” your leaders have.
The vast majority of conservatives can now be divided into two groups. The kind I cited who will overlook and forgive ANYTHING Trump says or does in the hopes that somehow he will fade away before too long (or that others will put him in jail for them) because they don’t have the guts to stand up to him, and yes a group of tens of millions who not only don’t care what he does and has done be it cheating on all his wives or walking in on teenage (as in UNDER age) beauty contestants or sexual assault, groping (and maybe worse) women including ones married to people he knew – and admire him for it.
Gas prices are up because Trump spent four years sucking up to his master Putin and hampering out government’s ability to help not just itself but our private sector defend against Russia’s cyber warriors and don’t kid yourself. NONE of those private hacker groups would be in operation if Putin didn’t allow it. But Putin has had himself a good laugh over disrupting gas delivery to most of the eastern seaboard and even some states inland from it which is why gas prices went up. Just as when international oil markets spike the price increases show up right away at the pump but it takes months before, even after the price of a barrel of oil returns to normal before oil companies in this country pass along the savings.
I swore both when I went into the Corps, and later when for a while I went on FEMA’s payroll to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. For me those weren’t just words I had to repeat, but an oath to a duty I held as sacred just as my father and so many millions of others have done. Which Party tried to overturn it by stopping what before in our history had been a pro-forma process (albeit with some minor grandstanding) last January? Which Party is as I write this scheming of ways to UN-Constitutionally return an EX-President to the Oval Office by inventing ever bat-shit crazy ideas? I could keep going but I’m sure if you’ve read this far you know where I’m coming from. So knock off your Trumpian like projection (accusing US of the kind of shit YOU want to do and have done) and just say you disagree with me and others here. I DON’T like this newest change in the format nor the impossibility to see the story I clicked on. Most are old stories and I don’t see the repas eig the group. Also I must have missed the heads-up about changes. If I am wrong, please ignore my complaint. But if I’m right can’t everyone band together and figure out why? And is someone actually be sabotaging the content because of the need to muzzle us trouble makers? Ursula, please, if you can, help!
Speaking only for myself I don’t see all that much change when it comes to the appearance of the site. I do know that it’s gone down more than once and that has to have been driving ursula bonkers. Since the first of the year the site was sold to a new owner. Then it had to change servers that hosted it. Then it had to change advertising support. To me at least it seems like each one of these in and of itself is something major that would take a smaller site like this with limited resources months to get fully sorted out. But as I’ve noted there have been several and those are just the ones we know about. Who knows what other stuff ursula has been dealing with behind the scenes? Getting, and more importantly keeping a stable platform that loads and can be navigated reasonably quickly and also incudes ads so that it has enough money to stay online would be my own priority if I were managing all this. Unless I’m wrong it’s never had a “hover” function (even in the old days) that allowed a reader to profile the first few lines of an article. But if you are getting a blank page when you click on a story instead of being able to read it then I’m sure ursula would want to know, and if others are too they should speak up. That’s my two cents for what it’s worth.
