It shows you what an impasse we’re at in politics in this day and age, when people cheer that a state GOP decides not to elect a clearly mentally ill person to chair the party — and that concurrently, said mentally ill person announces that he won the race anyway. The latter, unfortunately, is not the least bit surprising because that’s exactly the same posture that the former POTUS is taking, that he really won his election but somehow the “establishment” took it from him. That’s Lin Wood’s theory as well.
Lin Wood lost his election today for SC GOP Chair. I’m not exactly sure what he is saying here when he says, “I won.” Maybe he is saying the Republicans stole the election and it was fraudulent. pic.twitter.com/AUbs2PVqCu

One small defeat for Lin Wood, one giant setback for QAnon. Gone now is the platform for all the talking points about the military, the nuclear codes, Trump secretly working out of the Oval Office. And just think about all the talking points that could have come. Not only JFK Jr. on the 2024 ticket as VP, but Elvis as UN Ambassador, the full revelation of Jim Morrison going into witness protection as Rush Limbaugh and working as a file clerk at Area 51, while teaching bass guitar to Richard Nixon, oh mama, what could have come out.
We’ll just have to see what Wood does next, but my instinct is that it’s not going to be anything nearly as high profile. He put his all into this, threatening his rival, talking the crazy talk, promising the QAnon-nuts that all would be well and this was part of The Plan — and nada. Rien. Kaput.
No, the next door that is likely to open for Lin Wood is the one to the psych ward. And high time, at that.
Or, he could try and take a page from Jim Jones’ and David Koresh’s book, and start up a literal cult, with a physical headquarters where everybody lives, and to get in you have to sign away all your cars and real property to Wood. It would not surprise anyone, I don’t think, if he did that. He is that nuts. When you’re too nuts for Donald Trump there’s nothing more to say.

I knew it. I even said so earlier today – that he’d come up with a new level of bat-shittery and sure enough he has done so. It will also be just the beginning. This guy isn’t going to shut up until he’s zonked out on Thorazine in a rubber room.
I am not joking about him getting a house or compound or some kind of a locale and starting a cult. The guy is a cult leader. Jim Jones had nothing on this clown. He’s got the paranoia, the delusion, the made up batshit world view, all of it. He just needs to find a space and a few dozen, or maybe hundreds, of followers and they hole up somewhere — until the ATF or a congressman’s plane or somebody from outside shows up.
Somehow I am not surprised that he claims he won. It would be so much better if he could recognize reality when it hits him over the head.
He truly reminds me of the cult leaders. He’s like that Heaven’s Gate guy, he never could see what was really go on, he had to keep pushing and pushing and finally everybody had to die. I think Wood is the same type. I honestly do.
It brings to mind a vision: sitting in a helicopter bay with a tranqualizer gun chasing him down as he runs in a panic far below on the great plains. Ok, maybe just a net designed for rinos. Let me play Kevin the flopping deckfish, “either way just as good.”
