This is yet another historical moment in what the election of Donald Trump has meant to the downfall of this nation. Take a look at this clip, where Trump tries to argue facts illogically. He is bound and determined to back up his idiotic talking point that everything is great with coronavirus, it’s just being reported wrong by a hostile media. The man’s abject stupidity is glaringly exposed, but what is even more sinister is the fact that he has a staff of enablers, who give him these charts and tell him how to argue them. That is even scarier. Never forget, Trump didn’t get here without a lot of help, from a great many people.
.@jonathanvswan: “Oh, you’re doing death as a proportion of cases. I’m talking about death as a proportion of population. That’s where the U.S. is really bad. Much worse than South Korea, Germany, etc.”@realdonaldtrump: “You can’t do that.”

What would be comical, if it wasn’t so horrific, is that Trump is trying to argue how the deaths are positive. He either can’t see it, or more likely, he can’t deal with it, so he’s got to pretend that if you just look at it the right way, it’s all fine. The man is so intellectually undeveloped that he doesn’t understand the difference between a fact and an opinion. 157,000 people are dead, as opposed to 9,000 in Germany, but we’re number one — if you just spin it the right way, and spin is the essence of the art of the deal, any deal, right? And dead Americans are just another deal, okay? Gaslighting has now officially been raised to an art form.
This @jonathanvswan interview left Trump in tatters.
If you still support him, just listen to the interview and ask yourself:
Is this a guy I’d trust with, say, my child’s future?
Heck, is he someone I’d trust to pick up my laundry? https://t.co/KCPRQ19ULC

Trump is a profound idiot.
That has only been masked by journalists inability to press him on topics.
If the WH press pool teamed up to follow up on each other’s questions, every press appearance would be like this. https://t.co/INPgI7Blpv

What is depressing about this, is that Trump isn’t going to come clean and tell the truth. Governor Andrew Cuomo addressed that issue yesterday in his daily briefing. He said now is the time to hit the reset button. Raw Story:
“Because if the American people are continued [to be lied to], the confusion and the chaos and the denial will continue,” he said. “If the president actually tells them the truth and says, ‘I made a mistake,’ he’s not going to be telling them anything they don’t know.”
“Every American knows he made a mistake,” the governor continued. “Every American knows this was the worst government blunder in modern history. Not since the Vietnam War have Americans sat in their living rooms to see the numbers on the TV screen every night saying what a mistake it was.”
“Trust the American people,” Cuomo remarked. “And if you don’t trust them and you don’t trust their intelligence and you don’t trust their ability to handle the information then you shouldn’t ask to be their leader.”
Trump apparently thinks that the base is bigger than it is, or that he can gaslight all of the people all of the time and win reelection. Let’s see how that works out for him.

The interview exposes how ignorant, stupid, and *incompetent* Himself is. He really needs to be removed from office, like three months ago.
pj, try three and a half years ago!
This clip was almost too painful to watch! tRump sounds so desperate to make somebody–anybody–believe what he’s saying and it’s all a farcical lie. tRump doesn’t even know what he’s trying to say! Ouch!!!
So if tRump is like a dumpster fire, then is this a train that has a burning dumpster on it and runs off a cliff?
Or has a bridge collapse under it.
The last line of that tweet from The Hoarse Whisperer makes an important point. Journalists, like Congress Critters in hearings REFUSE to team up. Their egos, that insatiable desire to come up with their own “speechifying” before finally asking one question with possibly one follow up that will “nail” the person being questioned is what has been killing this country. It’s why witnesses in hearings and Trump (and other Presidents) can get off the hook – they can filibuster (so to speak) or go off on some tangent and slip away to someone who will ask about something completely different. Just as Congressional Committees should decide on a few key points and let staff counsel grill a witness before the “five minute round” stuff where they can strut for the folks back home, the WH press corpse (yes, for all the good they usually do that was intentional!) should decide on a handful of topics and rank them in order of importance and stick to following up on questions that are dodged. And SHOUT at Trump with accusations of dodging them if he only calls on Faux Nooz – As in WHY ARE YOU AFRAID TO CALL ON REAL JOURNALISTS INSTEAD OF FOX CHEERLEADERS?”
Some of them are teaming up now – they give their time to another reporter who will try again to get a question answered.
He sounds like a toddler having a temper tantrum
He sounds like a junior high student who doesn’t understand ratio.
This would be hysterically funny were it not so damned scary. He is so off the wall he is practically bouncing. It is so clear he does not understand even those very simple graphs. And this is what we have to contend with until January 20th. God help us.
While listening to him, I realized why his former professor at Wharten called him the dumbest student he ever had. Trump doesn’t even know the right way to read a chart. Besides which, half the time he had them upside down. I guess he sees best that way.
How he did it I don’t know but Seth Abramson put a thread up with all 80 of the Lies Trump told in 27 minutes and the TRUTH behind each and every one. https://tinyurl.com/y6bogglz PLS share.
At least the clip is complete. The clip I saw cut off at “You can’t do that.” Trump is saying that cases is the logical denominator, not population. He would be correct if the question he was addressing were not how the US compares to other countries. That requires per capita. If the question were the legality of the disease, then cases would be a good denominator because we would need to know the death rate for people who get the virus. The other thing he doesn’t understand is that we need more testing in order to have an accurate case number for the denominator. What appears happened is that his staff gave him some charts he doesn’t understand to make him feel better. So there he is trying to explain why cases is logical, not population. He seems to genuinely not understand the data.
I think you meant “lethality”of the disease. Unfortunately your auto-correct didn’t understand that concept. (Actually auto-corrects don’t understand anything.)
Yes, your are correct.
I feel for any interviewer in the room with this bozo. All are smarter and better versed on the issues than this clown. It makes my head hurt trying to figure out what the hell he thinks he’s talking about. Anyone who aided and abetted this @hole throughout his time in office needs to spend time in jail for betraying their country. All of them.
I’m surprised schools aren’t publicly rescinding his diplomas.
“Then the one”? Seriously?
