I’ve been thinking we went into that universe sometime, without noticing it. Or about 35% of the country did, and the rest of us didn’t, and are trying to deal with the mess.

In a nutshell, Mexico agrees to “look at the situation” & if in 45 days the U.S. doesn’t think they’ve done enough then….
That last paragraph is something I suggested yesterday was drafted by a couple of non-lawyers who thought they knew what they were doing. It doesn’t make any sense, and could reasonably interpreted as contradicting itself. Or, maybe on the Mexican side they had a really good lawyer (and we didn’t) who got our side to sign an unenforceable agreement – basically punt the whole mess down the road and hope when the 45 days is up Trump will be buried under yet another scandal/mess & once again the only thing that will happen is to punt yet again.
For me the funny part is that Trump’s reading comprehension is at best grade school level and probably all he was capable of “getting” was there was a deadline of 45 days – not realizing that the deadline didn’t mean jack shit. How would you like to be the individual who told him they had an agreement and here’s the letter proving it just to calm him down (remember, they’d just gotten those frightening – for them – internal polling numbers and Trump was freaking out. Not to mention the Contempt votes in Congress. But Trump swallowed the bullshit fed to him and strutted about like a peacock, only to have Mexico yank the rug out from under him! Like I said, by now even Trump has learned his “agreement” isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and if I were the person who told him it was I’d be calling in sick and begging a doctor for a really bad diagnosis to keep me away from work for a couple of weeks.
