It was so exciting to find out she was being investigated, and now she isn’t. Booooo. She deserves to be looked at. Those fast and loose actions of being an “AG”, as well as ignoring court orders, are not exactly a small thing. Apparently, the Florida Bar now disagrees. Someone jumped the gun and spoke to the press. Now they’re embarrassed in public. Regards to Raw Story:

Florida’s bar association on Friday said it “erroneously” announced that Lindsey Halligan was under an ethics probe, The Hill reported Friday. Halligan was President Donald Trump’s former attorney and was appointed by him as interim U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia to bring criminal cases against his enemies, which was objected to by longtime prosecutors.

Wonder if that actually means “not yet”. Her cases weren’t exactly solid, as the court later showed by throwing them out. It made her (and Trump) look like children trying to win a playground game. There was no real basis to the cases. They were purely vindictive. It’s Trump’s Revenge Tour™. The statute of limitations ran out before they could bring a new case against Comey, and she tried *multiple* times to bring AG Letitia James. The grand juries said oh HELL no! That was delightful!

After leaving the U.S. attorney’s office in January following a judge’s ruling that she had not been lawfully appointed, her cases against Trump’s adversaries — including former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James — were dismissed. Florida’s bar association had reportedly sent a letter the previous month indicating that Halligan was under investigation. A spokesperson for the Florida Bar Association told The Hill that there was no pending investigation into Halligan.

Oops. You got double information there. It could still mean “not yet”. We can hope. Lindsey Hooligan absolutely did NOT belong in an AG position. She was an insurance lawyer, for heaven’s sake! She had *no* prosecutorial experience. She was rushed for time. She made about half a ton of mistakes. She should be reviewed!

“In response to an inquiry from a complainant, The Florida Bar wrote a letter to the complainant erroneously stating that there is a pending Bar investigation of member Lindsay Halligan [SIC],” Jennifer Krell Davis, director of communications for the state bar, said in a statement. “There is no such pending Bar investigation of Lindsay Halligan [SIC],” Krell Davis said.

“In this case, The Florida Bar received a complaint against Lindsay Halligan [SIC] and, consistent with standard practice, the Bar is monitoring the ongoing legal proceedings underlying the complaint.” The comment from Florida’s bar association follows a report Thursday from The New York Times that Halligan was facing potential disbarment and that complaints in both Virginia and Florida had originated from a watchdog group in February.

Okay, this story is a one-trick pony. But still, they reversed themselves. We can’t be excited anymore. No, America, there is no Santa Claus. But we’ve gotten rid of Gnome. And we might get rid of Blondi. Hooligan is frosting. But frosting can make or break a cake. The Bar deciding to investigate her after all would be sweet.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Um, I think *I* see the issue. I thought all the “[SIC]”s in the block-quote material were misspelling the woman’s surname so I went to the RawStory source site to check and, no, the “[SIC]”s were all there too; I got hit with a “Turn off your adblocker” thing before I could double-check something so I refreshed the page and managed to find out what the reason for those “[SIC]”s might be and I think I’ve got it.

The “[SIC]”s are wrongly placed for starters and THAT is crucial to the issue. PROPER placement of a “[SIC]” is to place it after the incorrect (usually in terms of spelling) word which, in this case, should have been after “Lindsay.” The woman’s name is properly spelled “LindsEy” not “LindsAy.” So, maybe the investigation was “called off” because there’s no “LindsAy Halligan” for the Florida State Bar to investigate while an investigation into “LindsEy Halligan” is taking place.

It’s nitpicky I know but the law is famous (infamous?) for adhering to technicalities. Wouldn’t it hilarious if “LindsEy Halligan” thinks she’s in the clear only to find herself being forced to appear before the Florida Bar a few months from now to face disciplinary action (and possibly losing her license)?
