How can they excuse agents who showed such disregard for a family that they set off things *inside* a van that included children? This is the new DHS with no guardrails. This is ego and being assholes. This was completely unnecessary. This is abuse. Call it what it was, and how many more families have been subjected to this, and it didn’t make the news? On Friday, the official government X account for the Department of Homeland Security posted an attack on a family whose children were hospitalized after being assaulted by federal agents — then quietly removed the post as it became clear the way they characterized what happened wasn’t remotely true.
The post came in response to a video posted by ABC News, titled “2 children hospitalized after federal agents deploy tear gas in Minneapolis.” “It is horrific to see radical agitators bring children to their violent riots,” said the post. “PLEASE STOP ENDANGERING YOUR CHILDREN.”
Excuse me? What violent riot? If there had been a riot, it would have made the news and been very, very bad for a number of reasons, and the first would have been Trump moving towards martial law. It would be difficult to stop that slide, and we would never get our country back.
This is worth raging about. Assaulting a family with children in the car. All bets are off after this. No one is safe. Something could (and probably will) happen anywhere, any time. When the hell will the “leaders” of DHS realize the damage their agents are doing, both to a family and their image? It seems that two people in the Trump administration want their quotas, their numbers. Cruelty is the point.
Independent journalist Adam Cochran laid out succinctly why DHS felt compelled to remove the post later in the day. “DHS deleted this one because: The family was driving home and got blocked; ICE deployed flashbangs and tear gas INSIDE the car; The 6-month-old child stopped breathing and had to be rushed to the hospital.”
“DHS did NO investigation & rushed to lie to defend the officers,” he added. This is not the first time Homeland Security officials have generated controversy with poorly-conceived social media posts. Last October, Secretary Kristi Noem promoted Trump’s likely illegal strikes on civilian ships suspected of drug-running, with a picture of a completely unrelated ship.
Cruelty is the point. What caused this bully boy to set off 2 things *inside* the vam? And two things that were unnecessary?!! Lawd have mercy, why? It’s so hard to find the right words for this travesty. Children. They did this, knowing children were in the vehicle, and they Did. Not. Care. Flashbangs and tear gas are for *crowd control*. What the hell do we need to do to stop this? They have the 10,000 new agents, the majority of which should never been hired. They ignored physical fitness, they were severely undertrained, and they’ve been sent out on the streets to terrorize *everyone*. No more guard rails. Cruelty is the point.
