This was the sort of headline you stare at for more than a few seconds, trying to, again, make it make sense. It’s the sort of thing you expect from Trump. Well, you can now expect it from Vance. He mostly did a decent talk for almost a year, but didn’t make it all the way through, and this one sounded like Trump. Telling the two apart is going to be challenging, except that one of them is orange. Thank you for the kickstart, Raw Story:

Vice President JD Vance vowed to track down alleged left-wing terrornetworks,” which he insisted were purchasing bricks to throw at Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. On Tuesday, Vance told conservative podcast host Scott Jennings that his family was doing well after a man “attacked” their house with a hammer while they were away. “I guess this person probably assumed we were still there, decided to make an attack,” Vance remarked. “It’s exactly what the motive was, but clearly a very sick individual.”

It could be that JD was describing himself with that last line, but I digress. Someone hit his house with a hammer. Someone must have been really bored. And from that, we get terror networks buying bricks to throw at ICE. Bricks can be found anywhere and everywhere. They’re not exactly the most expensive thing in the world. Apparently, construction builders are also terror networks. Huh?

“Obviously, we saw what happened with the president a year and a half ago. Thank God he’s okay,” Vance said, linking the attack to violence against conservatives. “We’ve seen a rise in left-wing violence, well documented,” Jennings insisted. “It is much more common on the left than it is on the right,” Vance agreed. “It’s not just the people who commit the violence, Scott. I mean, look, for every person who throws a brick at an ICE agent or takes a shot at a conservative commentator, there’s an entire network behind it.”

And again, huh? A shooter at an event is now tied to someone throwing a brick at someone in ICE. Apparently, Vance also does conspiracy theories. And terror networks. It couldn’t just be some people who are pissed off at ICE’s brutality and bull. ICE has done a lot of things that are brick-worthy, but not from a terror network. Vance is doing some serious stretching of reality here.

“Who bought the brick? Who paid for it?” he continued. “Who are the networks, the violence that actually support this stuff, that foment this stuff? How do people get radicalized if not for the really crazy rhetoric we see it coming from some corners of the far left?” Vance argued that there was a “network of left-wing violence,” including in the killing of Charlie Kirk. “It’s not just the person who pulls the trigger,” he said. “And, you know, one of the things we’ve tried to do in the administration, we have a very aggressive task force right now to try to root out this left-wing political violence, try to find out who’s funding some of this crazy stuff, try to find out who’s buying the bricks that these people are throwing at ICE agents.”

Oh, puh-lease. Having to hide behind some amorphous they as a reason for something *is* conspiracy theories! It’s an excuse to do something, at a guess, to try and get closer to martial law. And “they” is so easy to use. “They” are the ones like JD Vance who come up with this nonsense! Someone must have a list somewhere that says who will say which ridiculous theme each week. It doesn’t ever seem to be about something “right”. It’s about “wrong” and smoke and mirrors to try to become believable, to be “the good guys”.  All of us have some good and some bad, but this? What a bunch of hooey.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Now let’s try to be fair to J.D. (stands for Justa Dumbass) as he might have confused footlong Subway sandwiches as bricks. What’s that Vance says? How can a poor ICE goon decked out in all that tactical gear wearing a mask and face shield know it’s an innocent sandwich? J.D. tells us it could be a BRICK wrapped up in a Subway wrapper. Of course if you set a brick and a Subway sub side by side the dimensions/shape would make the difference obvious, even if someone were to do a YouTube video and wrap up both and leave them side by side. Or better yet throw them at a cardboard cutout of a dummy. I have just the guy in mind for THAT demonstration!

  2. The said sandwich may likely be a ‘shite sandwich’ based on a recipe crafted by the GOP n JDV. Thus said ‘shite sandwich’ has literally been thrown back into their own face(s).

  3. Could someone find what J(uvenile) D(elinquent) Vance’s reaction to the NEAR-FATAL attack on Paul Pelosi was? You know, the guy who was LITERALLY attacked with a hammer after ACTUALLY breaking in to the Pelosis’ home?
J(ackass) D(ipsh*t) is just looking for someone who’ll listen to him because he can’t do social media as well as #DrowsyDonnie does.

  4. Always tickled by the 17th Century Spanish/British War of Jenkins’ Ear, where, at least, blood was spilled, we have the 21st century Kerfuffles of Pirro’s Sandwich and Vance’s Brick. And they dare deride snowflake sensitivities
