Some of us figured she would do something significant after retiring. Marjorie is a pro (ha) at looking out for herself. She always plays the long game. It should be quite something to see where she goes from here. This discusses why the changes in her are significant. With no further ado, from The Bulwark via, with thanks to Raw Story:

Writing in the “Never Trump” outlet The Bulwark, columnist Jonathan V. Last says the transformation of Georgia’s own Marjorie Taylor Greene represents “the best hope for liberalism in America.” That’s probably not something you ever thought you would read. By “liberalism,”

MR. Last makes clear, “we do not mean Democratic policy preferences. I do not expect MTG to change her views on the Second Amendment, climate change, abortion, the costs/benefits of immigration, the role of America in geopolitics, or any other issue.”

Yes, we can flatline about MTG and liberalism. It’s certainly outside of how we see her. Marjorie was a superstar MAGA devoted Trump groupie, wherever it was, heckling Biden, trying to become Trump’s VP, or spreading conspiracy theories about Jewish space lasers. But here we are, and I’m trying to pick my head up off the floor. Mr. Last makes a good case, so let’s see some more.

While those issues are all important, they are disagreements that we can and should resolve through the democratic process, just as we have done for more than two centuries. By “liberalism,” Last means something more fundamental. He means a renewed commitment to that democratic process of dispute resolution, and, with it, a rejection of an authoritarian government that defies our Constitution and national legacy.

Last is hardly alone in the national media in his embrace of Greene’s transformation as a deep-winter sign of a coming political spring. Writing in a lengthy profile in the New York Times, reporter Robert Draper tells us that Greene’s disenchantment has grown so deep that she no longer watches Fox News, “because she found it factually unreliable.” Draper proposes that in her newest incarnation, Greene “may yet again prove to be a harbinger of a sea change in the movement she once helped lead.”

Well. How about that? But let’s not complain. If she changes something about herself for the better, we should take it. She does very well with the press, so why not wait and see what happens, and if it continues to grow? Having someone believe in the Constitution again would be a much bigger change than we were hoping for. Republicans are retiring or just leaving (and it’s too bad Massie is going because wow, he was a thoughtful, precise commentator, and mover & shaker. Don’t flame me too much. Ha.)

But Jonathan has a point. It certainly seems that she has changed after watching Trump eff around and destroy things (such as, read: East Wing, dammit) and seeing the signs of him going downhill fast. There’s no benefit and no reason to support El Presidente Imbécil anymore because he’s weak now, sliding into dementia, forgetting about campaign promises, and forgetting something he said from one day to the next! She’s seen his obsession with Putin. She’s seen the physical issues. And she knows he’s going demented (ha). There’s absolutely no reason to stay.

If Trump’s support continues to erode, it will be because more and more people begin to understand what Greene understands, that it’s no longer in their own personal interest to stick with him. They will abandon him because they realize that Trump cannot give them what they want or need, because in many cases, he never had any intention of doing so. That won’t be true of some people.

But for others, it may be dawning on them that Trump is not going to lead a revolution against the elite. He is not going to defend the interests of the little guy against the billionaire class any more than he is going to release the Epstein files or defend Ukraine against Vladimir Putin, because he always sees the world through the eyes of the predator, not the prey. And if Marjorie Taylor Greene can eventually see that, maybe others can as well.

They’re finally seeing what we knew all along. He got elected to avoid jail. He made promises he has no intention of keeping on the campaign trail. The only reason we are getting the Epstein files is that he was forced into it by a definitely *one-time-only* near-unanimous vote of Congress, *all* of Congress. Now that those are coming out, it’s undoubtedly going to make some members of Congress stop and think about who Trump *really* is.

But then others will slip back into their MAGA-type holes because they won’t be able to admit that Trump is a revolting, demented pedophile. And probably, anyone they know who has an underage daughter should think about what Trump and Epstein did. Pedophiles. Beyond disgusting. And they did this for so many years. Okay, Congress, wake up!

There’s a lot more to the article. You may go here or to the link at the top.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money, especially around the holidays. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

    • Don’t hold your breath. Officially, her last day is Monday, and Congress’s 2026 session doesn’t begin until Tuesday, so she won’t be influencing anyone in the House.

I just wish Mr Draper had told us what Margarine Traitor Greene DOES watch. Of all the right-wing media outlets, Fox “News” is the MOST reliable. All the others have as much reliability as wet toilet paper holding a bowling ball. (And Fox’s factual reliability is up there with wet toilet paper holding a baseball.)
