Mary Trump, where are you? If anybody needs a psychologist right now, especially one with knowledge of all the personalities in this strange family, it is Dr. Trump that we need. Once again, Donald Trump is talking about his mortality. This is getting to be a common theme. He doesn’t believe he can get into heaven (now THERE’S a piece of self awareness I was not prepared for. I wonder what prompted that?) But moreover, he’s got an image of his eldest son deserting him for the jungle — with the caveat that “wildlife always wins” which sounds like he expects Junior to end up skewered on an elephant’s tusk, if not out and out trampled beneath its hooves. What accounts for this strange comment from the White House? Mediaite.
President Donald Trump, who has voiced his concerns recently about his earthly legacy and whether he’ll get into heaven, made a stunning claim about his eldest son, Don Jr., on Sunday.
During a Christmas address from the White House, the 79-year-old Trump had death on his mind as he discussed the memoir Venom and Valor by James J. Jones, who wrote of his experience being bitten by a snake in the Amazon.
“Wildlife always wins,” Trump said, adding, “I’m saying this for my son by the way because I have a son who would rather be in the jungle than any place on earth.”
Let’s have a little clarification about how the rich like Junior “hunt.” It is not an honorable or manly endeavor, man against beast. To do that for real takes many years in the jungle, learning the ways of nature. That’s not how the rich do it. The rich hire people who trap animals, dehydrate and starve them, and then the rich kid goes in and pulls the trigger and then poses with the dead leopard as Junior and Eric did. Did anybody seriously think that Beavis and Butthead know how to stalk wild game for real? They do not and they didn’t on this occasion but that’s not important. The image of the manly man is what the entire endeavor is all about.
Trump continued:
When I kick the bucket someday, I figure—I think he’ll be here for about two days. He’ll go and pay his respects and we’ll say, “Where’s Don?” He’d rather be in some jungle, some—and he’s a really good hunter. But remember this. Wildlife always wins, unfortunately in this case.
Trump mused recently, “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible. I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
WHO is he hearing this from, I would give anything to know? Does he actually talk with a priest or a pastor? As far as I’m concerned, Donald Trump reckoning what the fate of his immortal soul will be is the most important story there is. Who is he debating these existential issues with?
He also remarked publicly, “I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to get me into heaven. I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound.”
For once Trump and I are in total agreement. I think he’s set for the express elevaor to Hell or if there is no Hell, then I don’t think Trump has a personality which will survive in any kind of a “higher plane” than this one. My understanding of these matters is that if you are a “good” person, kind, generous, helpful, honest — possessing a good character — you will graduate to some higher world. Whereas if you’re a petty, vengeful narcissist like Trump you won’t.
Now these are all theories. Theories are all we have when it comes to metaphysics and life in a world after this one. The finest minds on this planet have been debating this topic for millenia. Poets have worn their pens to the nub writing about it. Nobody has a definitive answer. But I do find it fascinating that on the threshold of turning 80, Trump is starting to ruminate about what nature has in store for him.
Maybe this is why he’s so desperate to win the Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe he figures that a badge of honor like that will convince God to rule in his favor. Just idle speculation here, but Trump does seem obsessed with the Nobel Prize for some unfathomable reason, maybe this is it, a bargaining chip at the pearly gates. That is pure Trumpian logic. I don’t think it’s Divine logic, but it is Trumpian.
Finally, I find it interesting that Donald’s interest is in what his eldest son will be doing when he “kicks the bucket” and not his much younger wife. Seems to me that would be the more interesting topic of conversation, but maybe Donald already knows the answer to that one.

What I find interesting is that he is thinking about these things more frequently now. In my experience (I worked in elder care for many years), most people don’t start ruminating about their afterlife until they know the end is near.
Very interesting comment. It makes a lot of sense in this case because Trump certainly never seemed to self reflect (at least not publicly) until now.
At the risk of sounding like Scott Jackson, who used to be a frequent commenter here, I have two scriptures.
“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–their place will be the fiery lake of burning sulfur.” Revelation 21:8
“You belong to your father, the devil. . . He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of all lies.” John 8:44
Both of these were in a recent devotion I read. When I read them, I thought of one person.
I believe that when a person chooses to behave and do what was describe in these verses, they are choosing the same result that is described above.
Nearing his pre-mortem terminal state of lucidity, perhaps. The unexpected mental clarity (in his case, debatable) as he nears is sensed mortal use-by-date, possibly driven by his suspected co-existing psychiatric disorder (Mary maybe to provide some professional insight on this display of puzzling behaviour of his).
i want to know too. i had assumed he was talking to all the religious grifters around who “woul have found a way” to get him to heaven. for a price.
The only reason he wants a Peace Prize is that President Obama has one. That has bugged him to no end.
