Ahhh, I love the smell of paranoia in the morning. It smells like conspiracy. In fact, paranoia is the seed of conspiracy. You can’t have one without the other, like the old song says, “Love and marriage, go together like a horse and carriage.” In MAGA world paranoia strikes deep and for reasons which beggar the imagination, the sale of Warner Brothers to Netflix is driving Laura Loomer up the proverbial wall.

Yes, the paranoia is strong with this one. This is from Loomer’s newsletter. I won’t link to it but you can Google it if you really want to see what’s over there.

The Obamas have not quietly retired to their mansions in Washington, DC, or Martha’s Vineyard. With a power vacuum in the Democrat party, they are rebuilding an influence machine through their deep ties with Netflix, the world’s dominant streaming platform with over 300 million subscribers. Their power will only grow if the Trump administration allows Netflix to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, owner of CNN, HBO Max, and more.

The signs of the Obamas’ re-emergence are obvious, from Michelle’s sudden weight loss to polished media appearances. The former President has also increased his criticism of President Trump. This is not a coincidence, it is a deliberate strategy to manage their media exposure in advance of Netflix’s bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. If the deal succeeds, the Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground, would become part of a global entertainment juggernaut, giving them a level of cultural reach unmatched by any political family in modern history, effectively creating an “Obama News Network.”

Netflix is already aligned with Democrat powerbrokers. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos, one of Barack Obama’s most loyal Hollywood patrons, hosted multimillion-dollar fundraisers for Obama during his presidency and has poured money into the DNC, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Adam Schiff. Netflix Chairman Reed Hastings is openly trying to “Stop Trump,” bankrolling Democrat redistricting schemes and dumping millions into Hakeem Jeffries’ political apparatus. Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, who determines what the world sees on Netflix, co-hosted high-dollar Biden-Harris fundraisers and is an unwavering Democrat donor.

The Obamas reportedly inked a $50 million deal with Netflix in 2018, soon after leaving office, starting Higher Ground Productions to “to tell powerful stories that entertain, inform, and inspire, while elevating new and diverse voices in the entertainment industry.” While Donald Trump rose from the most highly rated show on network television to the presidency, the Obamas took the opposite path: governing, then leveraging their political clout for a huge payday to make content no one sees or remembers in an industry they know nothing about.

You get the general picture. It’s not a rosy one. In any event, it’s highly unlikely that CNN will become the Obama News Network. I think the main point proven is how hated and feared Obama is. That’s why it’s comical that there’s this big push to change the Constitution to allow presidents to run for three, rather than two terms of office. If that amendment became law and Donald Trump was able to run in 2028, who do you think the Democrats would put on the ticket? Just ask Laura Loomer, she’ll tell you.

  1. Even if this nonsense were true, it would merely balance all the right wing media that’s out there right now. OMG if we have a prominent voice for the other side of the coin.

  2. Loomer’s commentary shows, yet again, how dead irony is on the good ole Right Wing: she lists as egregious sins the actions of the wealthy honchos at Netflix for doing exactly what all the GOP’s billionair donors have been doing for decades, ie bankrolling the party.
We all know why the Rightwingdingers loathe and fear people such as the Obamas: they’re they’re “them uppity” people of color who “don’t know their place” and have shown the brains and character to get themselves into positions of power within the American political system. That scares the shit out of mediocre folks like Ms Loomer.

  3. I’m not sure Barack would want the job. Too many grey hairs and then there’s the enormous mess trump has made. Cleaning it up will be a Herculean task, like purging the Augean stables. But seriously, I’d consider Michelle to be an option, with her husband riding shotgun. I can’t think of anyone who has the communication skills, raw common sense and public appeal she does. And wouldn’t that drive the orange white supremacist up the wall?

  4. “While Donald Trump rose from the most highly rated show on network television to the presidency, . . . .”

I think we all need whatever Loomer’s smoking/inhaling/injecting to have such fantasies. Checking the actual ratings of “The Apprentice” and “The Celebrity Apprentice” (which are considered a single series in terms of numbers of seasons), it was not even close to being the “most highly rated show on network television” on the all-important “yearly” rankings.
Season 1 finished as the #7 show of the year (it did boast a season finale that had 35% more viewers than the premiere episode).
Season 2 finished at #11 (finale attracted about 5% more viewers than the season premiere–Season 2’s finale attracted about 18% fewer viewers than Seasons 1’s premiere).
Season 3 finished at #15 (finale’s numbers were on par with the premiere’s; overall numbers, though, were some 20% lower than Season 2’s finale).
Season 4 finished at #38 (finale’s numbers were a bit more than 16% higher than the premiere’s; season finale was nearly 9% lower than Season 3’s finale).
Season 5 finished at #51 (season premiere was the first to attract fewer than 10 million viewers though the season finale pulled in 16% more viewers than the premiere but the finale attracted just 3% more viewers than Season 4’s premiere).
Season 6 finished at #75 (season premiere attracted 22% fewer viewers than Season 5 and while the finale attracted 41% more viewers than the premiere, it was still 6% lower than Season 5’s finale).
Season 7 was the beginning of “Celebrity Apprentice” and the rebrand saw a significant boost as it finished at #48 (the premiere only improved whole numbers by less than 4% while the finale attracted 10% more viewers).
Season 8 finished at #52 (the premiere started off 22% lower than Season 7’s premiere and 25% lower than Season 7’s finale; this was the first season where the finale ended lower than the premiere, with the show shedding just over 3% of the premiere’s viewership–it was also the first season in which the show began and ended with fewer than 10 million viewers).
Season 9 finished at #59 (premiere opened with 15% fewer viewers than Season 8’s finale but ended outperforming Season 8’s premiere by just over 3%; the season’s premiere and finale episodes both failed to crack the 10 million mark).
Season 10 went back to “The Apprentice” and finished at #113 (the premiere started 36% lower than Season 9’s premiere and nearly 50% lower than the Season 9 finale and the season finale ended 4% lower than the premiere; it was also the first season where the first and last episodes attracted fewer than 5 million viewers).
Season 11 returned to the “Celebrity” gimmick and ended at #46. Without going into deeper details, this season marked the overall decline in the series’ ratings. Season finales would be lower than the premiere episodes for the rest of Drumpf’s hosting (which ended with Season 14). Season 12 finished at #73. Season 13 finished at #84. Season 14 finished at #67.
Incidentally, several of the early “Seasons” aired during the same Nielsen ratings year. Season 1 aired in the 2003/2004 season. Seasons 2 and 3 aired during the 2004/2005 season. Seasons 4 and 5 aired during the 2005/2006 season. Season 6 aired during the 2006/2007 season. Season 7 (first “Celebrity” season) aired during the 2007/2008 season. Season 8 aired during the 2008/2009 season. Season 9 aired during the 2009/2010 season. Season 10 (back to “The Apprentice”) aired during the 2010/2011 season as did Season 11 (back to “Celebrity”). Season 12 aired during the 2011/2012 season and Season 13 aired during the 2012/2013 season. For whatever reason, though, Season 14 wouldn’t air until the 2014/2015 season (first airing in January 2015 even though the series had concluded filming in early 2014).
So, again, I wouldn’t mind having some of whatever Laura “Looney” Loomer was on when she wrote that drivel about “most highly rated” series.
