This woman is a strategist? LOL wut? She sounds like a MAGA idiot. Oh wait, she is. A GOP strategist. With less sense than a can of beans. At least beans are generally edible. This isn’t even close. This is pure “where did she get THAT?” From Raw Story:
GOP strategist Kristin Davison stunned a CNN panel Saturday after blurting out a bizarre and debunked claim regarding merchandise carried at the retail store franchise Target. The discussion on CNN’s “Table for Five” Saturday centered around Target’s latest quarterly earnings report, which showed the franchise taking a 42% nosedive in share value. The retailer’s poor performance comes in the wake of the 2023 conservative backlash against the chain for its initiatives on diversity, equity, and inclusion, which the company started rolling back in response earlier this year.
A lot of places rolled back DEI, and they are paying for it, from companies to universities. You can’t boycott a school, but you can boycott a retailer, and many have done so. And remember, those who caved are worse off now than if they’d fought back, like Columbia and Harvard. Just because the president is an asshole doesn’t mean you have to bow to his demands.
It was then that Davison laid the blame on Target, specifically singling out a supposed line of products they carried. “Well, it was probably also a bad decision when they went the other way,” Davison said. “I haven’t shopped at Target since May 2023 because they had, frankly, evil things; pro-Satan, pro-everything.” “Pro-Satan?” other members of the panel collectively said in response. “A T-shirt, images, it was images,” Davison said.
Good grief. This woman has no idea what she’s talking about. And narrow-minded, oyyy. She can’t even use the right words. “Images”. What the hell does that even mean? She couldn’t be specific. No, it was strange generalizations. Ones that made no sense. A lot of things have “images” on them.
Davison was likely referring to Target having partnered with the designer Abprallen for its 2023 Pride collection. While the designer had marketed a product that bears the phrase “Satan respects pronouns” in his own shop, Target never carried any products designed by Abprallen that made reference to Satan, or any products referencing Satan. Following backlash, Target also ended its partnership with Abprallen, and no longer sells their products in its stores.
Such a simple explanation for something relatively minor. Target didn’t sell that. End of story. I never saw that t-shirt in *any* store. Pro-Satan is ridiculously excessive. That has nothing to do with rolling back DEI. It had to do with the *designer*. Coming up with this as a strategist isn’t understandable. Here we have yet more proof that the GOP isn’t too bright.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to keep going in our quest to tell the truth about Trump and see democracy survive. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

Target has a 🎯 on its back I guess
From what I’ve heard, there are a lot of persons of color that are boycotting Target because they caved and rolled back their DEI policies. Like you said, caving can put an org in a worst position than if they simply resisted in this case.
PS, I forgot to mention in my first comment that the photo above resembles Kate McKinnon, mocking a politico.
So, because Target decided to abandon principles for political ideology, but still failed to satisfy right-wing bigots, they lost twice, maybe thrice! It’s a hard lesson, but one that corporate parasites need to learn. And if some of those corporate parasites lost their jobs due to a downturn in profitability, so much the better!
