The war between the White House and the press “core” is not going well for the former. Pete Hegseth has jumped right in there with both feet to back up Donald Trump’s allegations of collusion between CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times to poison the minds of Americans. Why would they do that, exactly? There is never an explanation but one can only presume that it falls under the general umbrella of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s an interesting syndrome. Anybody who isn’t a member of the Trump cult is suffering from a terminal case of it. I must say, this is an exceptionally done supercut. I find it priceless.
You can’t get much better than that. And I do love the giant font for the headline and in bold. This is what the press needs to start doing, is fight fire with fire. If this had been happening back in 2016, we probably wouldn’t be where we are today but it’s futile to go down that path of thinking. We are where we are on the great cosmic chessboard and can only make our next move from that place and not from “what if” never never land.
Make no mistake, the war with the press is full blown. Take a look at these tweets.
Singling out reporters and attacking them by name is really working out well for the Trump admin today. pic.twitter.com/ju7f90xcXE

All Trump is doing is reopening the Obama playbook. Because, you see, things are not as simple as Donald would like them to be. Nothing is. Not foreign relations, not nuclear disarmament, not the economy, not medical care, nothing.
It was going well. He broke it. Bungled it. pic.twitter.com/axE7sJgi4D

interesting how these “dumb presidents” before Trump just didn’t have it right — but now the keen intellect of King Donald is essentially going right back to the blueprints that were established before he ever came on the political scene.
And Trump and Hegseth have to churn the news cycle into a defensive frenzy in order to make Trump look less stupid. Maybe it’s working in the right-wing silo. I’m sure it is. But if the polls that we see coming out, and the five million people that we saw come out into the streets for Trump’s birthday protests are showing us anything, it’s that the right-wing silo doesn’t seem to be ruling the day so much.
What I don’t understand at all is why the same people who showed up to protest did not show up to vote and prevent all this madness, but again: we have to make our move from where we are on the chessboard. Historians that come after us will have their hypotheses. All we can do at this point is to unite and fight fire with fire. Thank God the press seems to be finally on board with that concept.

So, the Drumpf folks want to “access as much as $30 billion” for a “civilian-energy-producing nuclear program.” Do they not understand it’s very easy to convert that “civilian-energy-producing” program into “military-bomb-making” program?
It’s kind of like Israel. They’ve got nuclear facilities they *claim* are used solely for “peaceful” purposes but, it’s so odd that they never allow the same UNFETTERED “surprise” inspections to which Saddam Hussein was subject to nor to which the Iranians were subject to (before Drumpf tore up the Obama agreement). No. Whenever inspectors were requested to inspect Israeli facilities, they always hemmed-and-hawed and asked for delays–and, with US support, the delays were granted. And those facilities ALWAYS passed the inspection. (And any report that dared suggest anything was amiss in the inspection was quashed, usually with US pressure.)
Liars lie. Killers kill. Hypocrites say one thing and do another. That sums up the GOP…the new American Nazi Party. I guess Journalism school doesn’t encourage hard questions. Where are all the protesters that turned on Biden because of his stance with Israel? I guess they REALLY wanted a genocide. Now kids are shot waiting for food. Happy now?
Yep. This is what all major outlets should do regularly. Hell, almost every day there’s a need for this kind of thing from journalists.
Again I note that right here on PZ the complexity of the mission and the fact that the bombs hit exactly where they were supposed to and the crews made it home safely was reported. In my own article I noted the complexity goes beyond the planes/crews that carried out the actual strikes – all that decoy activity with similar planes deploying to the Pacific from where (Guam) they could sortie across the Indian Ocean. Granted, my article was about how much it all cost BUT neither I nor anyone else on this site downplay, or disparage those OPERATORS who actually received the orders to strike and then planned and executed the missions.
It was almost an afterthought at the end of the video you showed but Anderson points out the issue we don’t know the answer to is whether the damage is as great as Team Trumpty claims. The evidence is buried deep underground or under a freaking mountain! It will take weeks, if not months to get a sense of the actual damage to the actual stuff we wanted to destroy. Unless as I suggested last night Iran decides it’s put up with enough Trump bullshit and invites international inspectors and news crews in to see they do in fact still have centrifuges and other manufacturing equipment and also a stockpile of enriched uranium. Given what they likely have allowing inspectors to take some samples (it wouldn’t take much, perhaps forty or fifty grams from various places to test) and show we didn’t “destroy” their ability to work on nukes after all.
I watched the CNN clip, and I’m wondering about two things. Is Petey really this clueless? If he’s not, then why does he have his back all up in the air?
