Americans feel a sense of dread right now. It is before the holidays and that is a particularly bad time to be apprehensive about one’s future. But we are where we are and we have to make whatever moves we’re going to make from where we find ourselves on the board. Simply, this election is now history and out of our control. We all proactively did what we could, whether it was phone banking, precinct walking, fundraising, etc. Now the election is over and Democratic governors in various states are flexing their muscles and letting it be known in no uncertain terms that if Donald Trump tries any kind of tyrannical nonsense that it will not be tolerated. The fact that it’s even felt to be necessary to even mobilize like that is the real story here. And our American collective tragedy.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said the Golden State is “ready to fight” and called a special section of the state Legislature after Trump’s win.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) promised that if “you come for my people, you come through me.”

In Massachusetts, Gov. Maura Healey (D) pledged her state’s law enforcement will not assist the Trump administration if it goes through with mass deportation plans.

The messages, some of which come from possible 2028 contenders, harken back to the first Trump term, when big Democratic states repeatedly sparred with the White House. They also suggest a long campaign as ambitious Democrats tout their willingness to take on Trump at home and across the country.

Another four years of Trump in power are likely to see Democrats “resisting in every way possible, to throw sand in the gears at every opportunity,” said Jesse Rhodes, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. “And with Congress likely controlled by Republicans, that’s going to fall on the shoulders of Democratic governors,” he said.

We have to protect ourselves from what may be an extremist regime. We don’t KNOW is the problem. Yes, we know the horror that is Project 2025. And we know that Trump denied having anything to do with it. And we know what an inveterate liar he is. But what is real theoretically and what the actual implementation of these programs will or will not be, we don’t have a clue.

But these governors are being pro-active and there’s no such thing as being too prepared.

My most fervant hope is that the situation doesn’t degenerate to the level where state forces, God forbid, begin to oppose federal ones. But as stated here previously and we will say it again and again, we’re going to find out. We don’t know now what the future holds but eventually, the third week in January to be precise, we will begin to find out.

And believe me, nothing would please me more than if all the fear of Project 2025 turns out to be just that and no more, fear. But if the Civil Service ends up gutted, and the federal government crippled, then it may indeed be up to the states to maintain some kind of order. I hope and pray that this does not come to past. But the plain fact is that Trump is unhinged and he’s got some very dangerous people around him. And that is, generally speaking, a recipe for disaster, whether in business, politics, any walk of life.

  1. Tim Walz is one of those Governors. He’s also got no Presidential ambitions, something he made clear during the VP selection process and afterwards. IOW he has no f**ks to give so he can be pretty freewheeling and if there are some gaffes along the way so what now? Walz can provide a lot of cover for fellow Governors (and Senators with ambitions) to tee off on the new Trump administration. It’s looking like if Trump and the GOP were counting on Democrats just rolling over they’ve got another think coming. As for the media it’s conflict which will get ratings so they’ll love covering it. It will be messy and even ugly but so be it.

When Trump actions like tariffs and trying to interfere with the Fed roil the markets and make businesses scared to make long-term plans, and causes the economy to go to sh*t it won’t be either Biden’s or Harris’ place to say “We told you so.” He can and should enjoy the years he has left in a semi-quiet retirement. Harris’s career in elective politics is done but she’s only 60. I’m sure she can find ways to help in the fight that’s to come.

Should Trump be, well Trump and so effed up he f**ks up implentation of Project 2025 and we do have a fairly free and fair election in four years I’m fantasizing about an AG Kamala Harris. I didn’t want to jinx things before Tuesday but now will admit to loving the prospect of an AG Sally Yates who was quietly being mentioned for the job. Anyway, it’s not enough yet but knowing that some important folks with lofty goals aren’t just speaking up but GEARING up to fight is at least a lit candle illuminating the darkness. A start. Here’s hoping it turns into a bonfire of resistance!

  2. This is where I will volunteer. NH was stupid and elected a clone of our asswipe governor sununu, but Ayott lied and got caught but it was too late in the game to overcome. She had to pull her lying ads very late in the game. I will offer any help at all to these governors. I have to. I know blue states send money that benefits all the poorly educated red states who supposedly elected that creature. Perhaps if they stop that, it might be a first shot across the bow to a federal government that is going to become a disaster? A thought, at least. Not sure how it all works. But resisting is going to help me heal. I still know I’m going to lose everything we worked all our lives to scrimp, save, and end up with broken bodies to accumulate. And we’re too old to start over

As for him not being smart enough to implement these project 2025 goals, he’s just their useful puppet. Hillbilly is who will be in charge in a very short time.

I pray that President Biden will blanket pardon everyone on the enemies list, step down before January 20, and let Vp Harris become president for a day and blanket pardon him. That is my fervent desire and wish. But he’s too nice and honest. Oh, well.
