We have another pretty kettle of fish tonight, and it’s a surprise. It seems things aren’t going well, not the way they wanted, and they are turning. MAGA should not turn. MAGA should continue to do what they do. When it changes, that’s a problem. My regards to Raw Story:
Some of Donald Trump’s most vocal supporters are publicly turning on the president over his emerging Iran peace framework, posting attacks that range from disappointment to outright fury. The criticism, which intensified after Trump announced from the Oval Office that an agreement involving the United States, Iran, and a coalition of Arab and Muslim nations was “largely negotiated,” has come from MAGA-identified accounts on X who say the reported terms amount to a giveaway.
They’ve got it bad, and it’s not good, to paraphrase. This is certainly something we didn’t see coming. We kinda figured MAGA would always support Trump. That’s what they do. It’s startling to see this. It’s also a touch unnerving. It seems this is what happens when someone enrages their base. They can support you, or they can attack you, and it’s the latter choice. Trump is in real trouble now. He can’t count on something that’s no longer there, and this is happening before midterms. If this keeps up, it should be interesting in November. Republicans are already in trouble.
Conservative commentator David Hookstead chimed in with a sharp assessment of the reported terms. “If the reported details of the Iran deal are accurate, then it represents a total strategic failure,” Hookstead wrote. “Absolutely stunning how poorly this has been managed.” @MindysMom2009, an account that tagged Trump officials directly and frequently posts Trump’s quotes, responded to that statement, warning that the framework as reported would be a death blow for the movement. “MAGA is done,” the account wrote, citing the possibility that Iran would retain nuclear capabilities in exchange for lifting sanctions and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Okay, then. We wanted the war to end, and we wanted the Strait reopened, but my goodness, it’s all for them and none for us. How did it collapse so badly? Is it that Trump couldn’t keep his eye on the prize and his mind working behind it? We knew he had a conference call today, but only a possible hint of why. What is his inner circle thinking about this? It makes Trump weak in the eyes of MAGA, and probably Hegseth, but is anyone looking at him with new eyes now after this? Well, but on the other hand, he is still the president of America, and that’s not going to change. He still has power here, at least for now.
@UltraMaga73, with an explicit MAGA bio, went further. “yeah I’m sorry but there is no such f—— thing as a PEACE deal with Iran,” the user wrote. “How stupid are we?? Bomb the f— out of them for good.” Ron Strong, who posts as @strong54034 and often criticizes Barack Obama, urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ignore Trump entirely. “Bibi, DONT ACCEPT A BAD IRAN DEAL! Stop listening to trump, hes a coward! Finish the iranian scum regime yourself!” Strong wrote.
BOOM. There we have it. MAGA is well and truly pissed off now. The question is, are they outliers or speaking for the rest of MAGA, too? If more rage comes out of MAGA, Trump is toast. He’s already turned the rest of the country against him. Will Republicans be able to detach themselves from him? They don’t have much time to try before the real run-up to midterms needs to start. So, now we are looking at two things: Republicans trying to get themselves loose, and will all of MAGA turn against him? To use another PZ writer’s quote, don’t touch that dial.

What do you mean by MAGA? This is a serious question because MAGA is split down the middle on the Iran War. Which means that the “base” you’re talking about here is half the size of what is might seem to be.
I had been discussing MAGA as a whole. I had not considered there might be a split among MAGA. I do know about the “Leaving MAGA” group. So, at a guess, MAGA is split between America First and bomb Iran.
This is interesting, since Don Old just endorsed Ken Paxton for the senate candidate. Since he is much more MAGA than the traditional style Cornyn. If the base is truly turning on him, this could just accelerate their losses come November.
