This was not a question of if, only when. Donald Trump was speaking to a group of “my beautiful Christians” four days ago. He made an incredible comment, which you see quoted above. He’s been asked to clarify that comment. He can’t. At least not in terms which are meaningful. He rambled on with Laura Ingraham last night on Fox News, that in four years, “there would be so much love,” and other non sequitors. But he couldn’t explain what he meant by this statement, there won’t be any more elections in four years.

Ingraham tried to give him an out. She cued him, “You mean that they won’t be voting for you because you’ll be gone in four years?” But he didn’t pick up on the cue and just blathered on. So here’s how his comment is being taken, at face value, by the Lincoln Project and anybody else who speaks plain English.

Trump is telling us who he is and it behooves us to listen. And his relatives are telling us who he is. Mary Trump has told us who he is for years. Her brother, Fred Trump III, is now telling people that Uncle Donald “is atomic crazy,” and that he’s voting for Kamala Harris. We need to listen to these people.

Not the yous and mes, per se, we know who Trump is. We’ve always known. But people who may not be that politically tuned in need to hear it shouted from the rooftops (or from the vans with videos on the side, that the Lincoln Project likes to use) that Trump’s own family members say he’s a human being with no redeeming qualities.

Intriguingly, Robert DeNiro said that he could never play Trump in a movie for exactly the same reason, that he doesn’t have a single redeeming quality. DeNiro played Al Capone, to great effect, so presumably he was able to find humanity in that mobster. It’s known that Capone had a son who was deaf. Maybe the fact that Capone loved his son, whereas Trump would kill all handicapped people (according to his nephew Fred III) is the redeeming quality that DeNiro found, which enabled him to play Capone effectively.

We would have to ask DeNiro. But, on its face, it’s pretty shocking that a former president is somebody with no redeeming qualities whereas a murderous gangster has one or two. And what is more shocking still, is that this former president is up yet again to return to the White House after 81 million Americans told him no go four years ago this fall.

Trump may have waffled and blathered with Laura Ingraham but he got his meaning across. If he gets back in power, he has no intention of leaving the White House, except feet first.

Again, Trump’s telling us his game plan. Project 2025 is telling us his game plan. It’s not like we don’t know exactly what’s coming.

  1. So much love? Really? After four years of his squatting in the oval office you’d be hard pressed to find someone as loathed as he is. Does he honestly think four more years would reverse that? I guess he also thinks snorting the glitter unicorns fart magically makes you a 6′-4″ super model.

Does von shitzinpants ever open his mouth to speak without making a fool of himself? Haven’t seen any examples yet.

  2. Tied to his statement? We just have to watch the international news currently on Venezuela and Maduro. Never mind that Trump of course loves Putin, Kim Jong Un and Ji Jinping. Or we can just ignore all of this reality and then wonder what hit us if/when the madman of Queens makes it back to the White House again.

I dislike Laura Ingraham with every fiber of my being and yet I almost felt sorry for her–watching her squirm was quite awful.

  3. Whenever I hear that dictator for a day crap I instinctively think “That’s going to be one LONG f**king day!

Someone posted a song in another comment. I’m sure you remember the old Burt Bacharach tune I’ll Never Fall In Love Again. Dionne Warwick was the one who made it a hit as I recall. I’d say a rewrite is in order. Only with a Trump imitator singing You’ll… Never have to vote again

Lots of that song could be rewritten to fit this newest telegraphed Trump punch.

Well, Capone DID set up soup kitchens to feed the hungry during the Great Depression (although there IS some legitimate concern that the food being served didn’t get there through fully legal means) and Capone was still HIGHLY regarded by thousands who survived because of that food, even decades later (and, even with all of Capone’s crimes being fully known and investigated).

But let’s also not forget the “legend” that says Trump didn’t want a son to be named after him in case the boy was a failure–because it *might* reflect badly on Trump himself.
