This is vintage Trump and it’s coming back again to haunt him. The October Surprise in 2016 was the Access Hollywood tape. You already know what happened to the Stormy Daniels hush money and NDA saga. Coupled with the Access Hollywood tape, that would have been one hell of a one-two punch. But the knockout punch would have definitely been the N-word tape from Trump’s Apprentice set days.

And of course Oddjob Steven Cheung “dismissed the accusation as ‘desperate’ for the Democrats in his statement to Slate writing: ‘This is a completely fabricated and b——- story that was already peddled in 2016.'”

Yeah, and it’s so utterly unbelievable, too, considering the fact that Fred Trump used to refuse to rent to Blacks. I would love it so much if this tape could be released. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

NBC, which is owned by MSNBC’s parent company, NBCUniversal, aired “The Apprentice” during its 15 seasons. NBC dropped Trump as the host of “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2015 soon after he launched his presidential campaign. MSNBC:

But in the early days Pruitt describes, the show was drawing huge ratings as the crew’s editing trickery made Trump seem much more competent than he really was. Pruitt describes laying out the pros and cons of the first season’s two finalists, Bill Rancic and Kwame Jackson, to Trump and then hearing the host express discomfort at the idea of Jackson, who’s Black, winning a one-year contract at his company. He says Trump asked, “Would America buy a n— winning?” Trump, Pruitt writes, was “adamant about not hiring Jackson.”

Pruitt writes that later in the day “Jackson and Rancic are scrutinized by Trump, who, we already know, favors Rancic. Then we wrap production, pack up, and head home. There is no discussion about what Trump said in the boardroom, about how the damning evidence was caught on tape. Nothing happens.”

The casual racism Pruitt says Trump displayed is consistent with a man who was quick to lean into birtherism a few years later. Trump’s refusal to accept that President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. catapulted him into politics. It’s easier to believe that Trump said what Pruitt says he said because it would tap into a similar racist skepticism on the campaign trail. Many Americans didn’t buy that Obama had legitimately won the presidency, helping propel Trump to the presidency in 2016.

When I think of this I wonder if Tim Scott really believes that Trump views him as any kind of a peer or equal? That’s another story that is about to heat up soon. We are now in June. Next month, a few days post sentencing, is the Republican National Convention. We are talking six weeks from now. Trump has to pick a VP. I suppose he could put it off to the very last minute, or even announce it at the convention.

The sublime irony here is that despite the conviction, all of the VP candidates are salivating to be chosen Trump’s VP.

  1. Tom Arnold said such tape exists……

…and knowing what we know now, is there anyone who doubts the tape exists???

  2. What is particularly interesting is FCC’s involvement in the production of the Apprentice. If they appear ready to micro-manage content in reality TV, why do they take a hands-off approach to news coverage?

Shouldn’t networks that overtly twist or select facts for political advantage lose their broadcast licenses? Or should that be left to the civil courts?

On NDAs, should they be void if they are intended to hide the biases or history of political candidates or public servants like Supreme Court justices? Or should they be banned entirely, including in business where they are widely used to hide fraud and other corporate misbehavior?

    • I’ve refused employment from places that use NDA’s with this statement: “I do not sign NDA’s because if you are a trustworthy, above-board, and honest business you do not need one and if you are none of those things, I do not want to be employed by you. The fact you use NDA’s indicates you are the second type of business”.

I’ve worked for exactly ONE business that used NDA’s almost two decades ago and it was one of the most dishonest businesses I had ever seen. Needless to say I work in the public sector pretty much exclusively. lmao

      • Well, you worked for a crappy company requiring an NDA and that company was dishonest. It says more about YOU than it does the use of NDAs.

It’s like pretty much anything else: How it’s used makes something “good” or “bad” not the item/object itself.

For decades (centuries, maybe?), it was considered an expected part of any high school biology class that some sort of animal or animals would be dissected as part of the course (usually, earthworms and frogs, but occasionally mice or other dead mammals would be used; generally, mammals were reserved for college/university courses, especially for students pursuing medical degrees). With modern technology, dissection can be virtually rather than with actual dead critters but there are some people who still believe that only an actual physical body will provide the necessary experience in order to perform an operation or an autopsy (a virtual knife won’t replace the actual sensation of feeling a scalpel).

Home telescopes are great tools for astronomy buffs to get a better look at the stars and planets and tracking comets and meteors but they can also be used to spy on that hot person next door getting dressed or undressed. Should the government (federal or state) ban home telescopes because someone MIGHT use them for illicit/illegal purposes?

If a hacker works for the government and tracks down bad guys, that’s a good purpose for hacking. If a hacker works for a government and infiltrates another country’s military or commercial interests, that’s a grey area depending on which country you live in. If a hacker works for himself and hacks into a bank or a cable system’s records, and decides to take that data and use it to extort money from the company (or the individuals whose information is involved), well, that’s a very bad purpose for hacking. Should the government limit who has access to computers and who’s allowed to take computer classes (especially coding classes) because *some* might turn to hacking?

Every year, local fire officials will set controlled fires to limit the potential for wildfires. That’s a good thing. But, every year, there are people who deliberately or accidentally cause a wildfire–either way, that’s a bad thing.

    • The law does NOT accept NDAs that are intended to hide any sort of illegal activity. As noted in the Wiki article on NDAs, “Like all contracts, they cannot be enforced if the contracted activities are illegal.”

While things like “doctor-patient privilege” and “attorney-client privilege” and “clergy privilege” are essentially “unwritten” NDAs, there are laws in which the “professional” party involved *IS* required to violate the privilege or confidentiality when criminal actions are involved or intended by the “civilian”

  3. As a white father of two adopted black girls, one grown, the entire party disgust me. Given how these racists are given power and privilege by the voters of this country also disgust and infuriates me. Now we have a nazi governor in Florida who touts slavery as a job training program, a lying racist hypocrite, former governor from south carolina vying for a VP position, and this POS, who should have been in jail decades ago. NONE OF THIS WOULD EXIST WITHOUT THE AMERICAN VOTERS. FACT! And we wonder why we are staring a rebirth of nazi Germany and another Holocaust right in our faces. I don’t. I know why. We voted for it.

  4. Once again, he conflates America with himself. During the recent trial, ‘very bad for our country”. No, it’s very bad for you. Make America great again means make him great again. Somehow occupying the office of president makes him great (in his eyes).

  5. Not just himself but people just like him, and there are, unfortunately, many of them. Casual racism used to be considered distasteful, so you saved those remarks for those you knew agreed with you. Trump made racism, misogyny, and xenophobia acceptable again. Welcome to.1960.

  6. The saddest part of this is that even if such a tape were aired publicly, Trump wouldn’t lose much or any support. It’d be “yeah but tax cuts,” or “yeah but the border,” or “yeah but gas prices,” or “yeah but Gaza,” or “yeah but Biden old.” And for even some of the black vote Biden is bleeding it’d be, “yeah but what has BIDEN done for me lately.”
This nation is going to need to go through some sort of reconning that involves a mirror.

  7. Roger, you can thank Reagan for abolishing the Fairness Doctrine in 1987.
Which was established in 1947 or 49. Fox news appeared in the 1990’s.

    • We have become a nation of self serving, half educated, assholes who tolerate criminals at the highest levels of congress, the judiciary, and the presidency. Meanwhile every 45 SECONDS a citizen, harming no one, is arrested for cannabis making them a POLITICAL PRISONER!!! THATS A GODDAMN FACT, given it’s proven the traitor Nixon admitted he ignored science and started the war on drugs in 1970 to get black and antiwar protesters off the phucking streets. YOU GODDAMN IGNORANT FOOLS KEEP THIS LAW ON THE BOOKS while standing around allowing evil to occupy high offices and get paid for it. Phuck you assholes. The blood of the innocent is OWN YOUR PHUCKING HANDS. America…founded on a LIE, perpetrated by lies, and now we will REAP WHAT WE HAVE SOWN. Some already have. I weep for the dead who believed and went to war to stop Hitler and the Emperor of Japan.
