I’m sure you saw enough of the Fox News GOP primary $hit$how to last you forever but comical, behind the scenes moments are coming to light. And the behind the scenes dialogue of the big ticket donors will not surprise you, and it’s far from funny if you’re Ron DeSantis. DeSantis is a dead man walking. He’s been prepping in the wings, waiting for the star, Donald Trump, to either do a literal prat fall and be carried off, or have some jury convict him. And either of those two things may happen. But right now he’s alive and kicking and about to be fingerprinted and mugshotted.

First of all, the elaborate toilette of the Florida governor is getting a lot of press. Pssst…Ron? This is one of those deals where brains is more important than looks. You’re welcome.

“And when you smile for the camera, I know they’ll love you better.” Maybe in the song, Ron, but not in your case.

Now there’s an interesting point. Maybe this anti-LGBTQ business strikes a little deeper chord with the guv than we know about? And all the high heels and eye shadow in the world won’t detract from the fact that DeSantis is regarded as a “paper tiger” by donors and the checkbooks are slamming shut. Ouch. Rolling Stone:

They say the opposite of love is not hate but indifference, and sadly for the Florida governor his performance in Milwaukee did not provoke disdain, but shrugs, among his already frustrated mega-donor base.

Asked by Rolling Stone late Wednesday night about how DeSantis did at the debate, one big GOP donor who’s been backing DeSantis against Trump simply replied: “He was there.” Another Republican high-roller donor who has given to both Trump and DeSantis in the past — and is currently waiting to see if the Florida governor recovers or completely implodes in the primary — said early Thursday that DeSantis was “unimpressive but not a disaster.”

Now here’s a moment of “leadership.” When asked by the moderator to raise their hands if they would vote for Donald Trump, DeSantis looked to see who else raised their hands before he did. Folks, they do workshops on things like this. It’s a sign of leadership to be the one who goes first. So much for DeSantis being an “alpha male” which he is desperately trying to prove to people he is. And the same can be said about Mike Pence as well. And you’re going to read a LOT more about the people who raised their hands, which was everybody save Asa Hutchinson. That was the death of the morality of the GOP, the prima facie evidence of the party’s moral rot, right there on that stage.

This next clip is so pathetic as to be painful.

DeSantis shoots a dirty look to Ramaswamy and all that does is underscore what a fumbler and a bumbler DeSantis is. He cannot think on his feet. People have been saying this from the outset of this campaign. He’s no good at extemporaneous chatter. People get on Joe Biden’s case and say that he’s not a public speaker. He may not rank with the greats of all time in that department, but he can read the room and think on his feet. Qualities which may become very apparent if there is a DeSantis/Biden debate.

And who knows? There might be. Anything is possible as we watch the slow but certain death of the Republican party, which entered hospice, to all intents and purposes, in 2015 and is still not dead yet. Meanwhile, it’s making the rest of us ill.

Here is DeSantis doing Trump’s material and my God, is he awful. My God.

Now you’re waiting for me to say the catch phrase, “and it gets worse.” But you’re thinking, “it can’t possibly.” Wrong.

The Florida governor’s night, and his entire campaign, is probably best summed up in a now-viral clip of him emphatically saying he won’t let the American people down before straining to approximate a human smile.

“He couldn’t quite pull it off,” says Rolling Stone. No, he can’t. The phoniness is epic with this man. He reminds me of bad actors in acting class. And every class has a few people, who are just simply awful. But still they persist. And occasionally a teacher will take them aside and ask, “Why are you doing this?” In DeSantis’ case, we have an answer, at least. Power. He wants power. And he’s willing to jump through hoops and embarrass himself, this we have seen.

Plus, Casey has some image of herself as Jackie O and she and Ron as Republican Camelot and if this is what Republican Camelot looks like, man. I think I’ll stick with Trump and Melania. At least with them, they have money but no class and they’re not trying to fake that part of it, because they’re oblivious to it. Ron and Casey have something worse. They have the delusion of class and the belief of going after something that they’re qualified to do. What will it take for them to realize that they’re batting in a league that they just don’t belong in?

I hope this is over soon. And I think DeSantis can kiss 2028 goodbye. It’s been speculated that DeSantis, when he folds, will somehow come up with a way to rally behind Trump and position himself for 2028. I don’t see it. DeSantis has gone as far in politics as he could. And hey, two terms as Florida’s governor is not too shabby. And Florida law may allow him to run again in the future. But I can’t see him seriously contending for the top of the GOP ticket.

Bottom line, nobody on that stage has the credentials to be president. But that said, nobody on the 2016 stage had the credentials either, and look at what we got. The worst of the worst. And that is what Vivek Ramaswamy is counting on happening again.

    • Even robots can do better than that ‘smile/grimace/sneer’.

The robots in ‘I Robot’ in 2004 playing against Will Smith were far more human-and they were robots playing robots.

      • Ron would have been interesting in Westworld. He would have been the human that seemed to be a robot or “host” as they called them.

  1. ”Ron’s eyeshadow was missing” eh; just maybe that figuratively comes to mean the angry little man’s ‘mask is slipping’ and we are beginning to see him in unscripted light? That literally won’t be a pretty sight to behold and experience. It will be fair warning of ‘it is what it is’. The real ‘what you see is what you get’ – fugly!

  2. Hey meatball in the white go go boots…if you send me a big check I’ll give you a piece of advice…oh hell…here it is…if you want to be seen as a leader…don’t cower and look around to follow the other losers in raising your hand. For a big tough top gun kinda guy…you look like slime mold. Just saying. Let me know if you want more advice…I’ll forward the info to get paid. I will need the money upfront as I’m getting the impression you’re broke.

    • He paused to see what the others would do. That’s not leadership. That is literally following.

I take my hat off to Asa Hutchinson. At least he’s taking a moral stance. He’s alone in it, but so frequently that is the case.

  3. That’s right, during a f*cking world-wide pandemic, fire the person who has been studying and fighting this sh*t for decades. I guess death sentence wants leprosy, zika, and all the rest of the diseases making a home in FL to spread around the country.

    moron.
