You’ve No One To Blame But Yourself

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy? Stand up and take a bow, fool! This is what happens when the management and staff take the week off. The next thing you know, you have a thousand bastard Freddie Krueger’s running around the asylum, flinging shit balls like a bunch of feral howler monkeys. Take a curtain call while you’re at it.

This debacle isn’t so much a self inflicted gunshot wound as it is a full body dismemberment. This wasn’t so much a single event or two that laid you low, this was a chronic, long term, lack of leadership and failure of judgement that has made you basically a complete non entity in your own caucus.

But let’s work back from the most recent. Your number three in command in the caucus, Liz Cheney, made a principled vote on the floor to impeach Donald Trump. Immediately the Trombies in your caucus howled for Cheney to be stripped of her leadership roles after her betrayal of Glorious Bleater. The principled response would have been an impassioned speech from the floor, reminding all House members that principled votes of conscience are why people sent you to congress in the first place. And then tell them to fuck off, Cheney is staying right where she is. Instead you let a cowardly secret ballot go forward, which Cheney easily won. But how much do you think that she and other members of leadership respect you after that cheap stunt?

Let’s be clear, Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t just fly off the rails, she went full blown Bonnie and Clyde. And yet, when it was the sane members of the GOP joined their Democratic colleagues to strip MTG pf her committee assignments, you wimped and wussed around until finally Speaker Pelosi had to do your dirty work for you. But here’s why this becomes such a critical problem for you.

Now that Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to officially get her Ku Klux Kaucus up and running, now, now? You suddenly grow a pair? Brimming with hypocritical faux outrage, you’re threatening to strip the committee assignments from any Republican who dares to join the Klan Kaucus? Kevin, are you fucking kidding me?!? You didn’t have the balls to pull the trigger on one lunatic wingnut, but now you’re going to go nuclear on possibly dozens of GOP caucus members at the same time if they dare to defy you? Remind me again coward, why should anyone take a single word you say seriously?

Kevin, it gives me great joy to officially advise you that you are boned! Sideways. This is going to turn into the gift that keeps on giving. I know, I know, the traditional axion is that memories are short in politics. Not anymore pal, not with the prominence of 24 hour news networks and social media. This is going to get bloody. There is no reason on earth for either Taylor Greene or her cohorts to take you seriously, you’ve already repeatedly proven repeatedly that you’re as spineless as a jellyfish. And even if you actually pull their committee assignments, so what? Taylor Greene has already proven that for idjits like her and her new cohorts, committee assignments are nothing more than a time consuming pain in the ass. Time that can be better spent jetting around the country elevating your national profile and fund raising. They didn’t get into politics to govern, moron!

And thanks for taking your entire party down with you, Hombre! You bozo’s are already involved in a messy, public pissing contest with corporate America, your largest source of income, over their suddenly newfound activism about voting rights. This is the potential kill shot. Because from where I’m sitting, MYG’s Klan Kaucus is going to be formalized and populated. There’s no reason to believe otherwise. And once that happens, whatever transpires afterwards is moot.

Because the damage is already done. Even if you patch things over with corporate America over voting rights, good luck with this one. Your biggest donors, along with their millions of employees, and tens of millions of customers, will be presented with the fact that these companies are donating heavily to a political party that actually has a caucus that promotes white Anglo-Saxon dominance and privilege in governing!

You had your chance at redemption back in mid November. That’s when you should have stood up, congratulated Biden on his victory, and professed the simple fact that the election was free, fair, and fraud free. Liz Cheney would have joined you, and so would others like Adam Kinzinger. Would it have been enough to make a difference? Maybe not, but at least it would have shown you to be an honest broker who could be trusted when he spoke. You made this stew pal. Bon Appetit.
