The GOP is fraught with internecine battles as the party tries to redefine itself going forward. One of the most comical of these exchanges is going on between election fraud conspiracy theorist Wendy Rogers and “Envoy Ambassador” to Trumpistan, Ric Grenell. Grenell is an openly gay Republican, which is up there with hen’s teeth and unicorns.

So much for the big tent inclusiveness of the GOP. Ronna McDaniel is also taking incoming fire for this brave new GOP world of endorsing gays.
Outraged about the creation of a "RNC Pride Coalition," anti-LGBTQ religious-right activist Tony Perkins demands that Ronna McDaniel resign: "I think she needs to step down. She has outlived her purpose at the RNC." pic.twitter.com/q5WLjBENIa

The GOP is terrified of gays. That’s been the posture for quite some time. I’m not sure what McDaniel is thinking by going along with Grenell of all people.
And Grenell or somebody gay is making inroads. You recall that just last weekend Melania got the Spirit of Lincoln award from the Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-LGBT group. None other than Trump and Melania were present that night. Melania did her best shot at Eva Gabor playing Marie Curie. Can’t get more of a GOP endorsement than that.
It was a terrific ploy, if you think about it. Getting Trump to appear at a pro-gay function was a mind boggler, and then somebody said, “What if we give Melania an award for being a great humanitarian? Just write the speech, she’ll believe she actually did the stuff.” And that’s what they did.
Pure soap opera. Stay tuned.
