Ahhh, the hypocrisy. It burns. You know about the beef that Sabrina Carpenter and the White House got into when an ICE video hit social media without license from Carpenter to use one of her songs. She then asked the White House to cease and desist from further use of her work and she called the ICE agenda “evil and disgusting.” So now a Xian conservative on Fox News is letting Carpenter know that simulated sex is “evil and disgusting.” Not sure what the ultimate goal of this pissing contest is but it just got escalated a notch or two. (Click into the tweet to see the video if it’s not showing up. X is glitchy these days.)

Now let’s cut to the heart of the issue, why not just use right-wing artists? And the unenviable truth is that unless you’re talking about Kid Rock and Jon Voight, there isn’t exactly an enormous talent pool out there. That seems to be the issue.

Although I still maintain, just do things simply and legally. Before you broadcast anything, ask the artist, get a license, defuse any potential problem. But maybe Trump and his regime don’t want to do it that simply and peacefully. Maybe part of the idea is to inflame a given artist (and his or her fans) and basically force the artist into a confrontation.

That’s sheer stupidity. If anything, it only makes the artist into a folk hero and more famous than they were before the White House-incited conflict. What sense does it make to make your *enemies* more famous and prosperous than they were?

But that’s Trumpian logic, apparently. So now Sabrina Carpenter is being slut shamed by the right and I see that as nothing but a complete blessing for the woman. If anybody didn’t know her name before this week, they certainly do now. And she has their sympathy.

This is a colossally dumb move to make but look at the people making it and all makes sense.

  1. If they “ask the artist,” the answer will be a resounding NO and they know it. So they steal instead. And get caught. They think they’re “owning the libs,” whatever that ever meant. Morons.

  2. Oh, yeah, why not use and pay for RW talent? I’m sure Kevin Sorbo, Scott Baio, Kelsey Grammer would love a freshly-written check, and I’m wondering why more country music luminaries’ music hasn’t been subjected to the same treatment. Hmmm…..
