Things are tough these days for Utah Senator and Trump brown-noser Mike Lee, who, by varying accounts is either up by a few points on his challenger in November’s Senate contest with Independent Evan McMullin, or down by the same, depending on which poll you’re looking at…

In recent days Lee has stated in fund raising emails to his shrinking base of supporters that he “is losing” (though that may be a bit of drama aimed at opening their wallets) and has resorted to begging Mitt Romney, who is certainly no favorite of MAGA voters since his vote to impeach the Orangeutan, for his endorsement… which Mitt declined to give.

Add now to those indignities an awkward interview with Fox News host Shannon Bream who went straight after him on his role in the January 6th vote certification fake electors scheme, saying To Lee “You were onboard.”

Raw Story

“Fox News host Shannon Bream challenged Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) over his role in a plot to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.During an interview on Fox News, Bream noted that Lee has been accused of participating in a plot to use fake electors to change the outcome of the presidential election…”

Yes, she “noted”… but then went for the jugular. She reminded Lee of the text messages he sent to Trump Chief-of-Staff Mark Meadows, which Meadows kindly provided to The Jan. 6th Committee in lieu of testifying, in which Lee stated that he was “looking for a path forward” to rig the count for his boss.

Mike did a little humadahumada and then came up with…

“I made phone calls to investigate the truthfulness of those [fake elector] rumors,” Lee said. “That’s all. Not advocating, just investigating the truthfulness of them. It’s the only scenario in which Congress would have had a role. I concluded after my investigation that the rumors were false. And on that basis, I voted to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.”

Sure you did, Mike.

Bream responded:

“So when you say I’m looking for a path forward,” Bream countered, “that path forward would suggest that you were at some point on board with the idea.”

Lee then did another minute of the old soft shoe, but, by then the dance was basically over.

Watch:

While I am firmly of the belief that the plethora of “Republican gaining” stories are horseshit deposited by news organizations desperately trying to pile up clicks, and that we will hold the Senate with one or maybe two more seats, it would be a nice insurance policy to have Utah voters send McMullin, as an Independent, to represent them.

Weakness such as Lee has displayed this past week certainly won’t help his bid, and if he’s lost Faux Spews there is a more than decent chance he will lose it all.

What a hearty laugh that would be!

  1. Too ban McMullin will not be much more help to the country than Lee, as my Utah friends have said he has ambitions to not caucus with either party and play a Manchin wannabe. So sad for Utah and the USA, either way the vote turns out. Sadly, responsibility for the political culture of Utah must be laid squarely at the feet of Ezra TFaft Benson and the John Birch Society. The cold war Kool-Aid was just a bit too tasty, even more so that “all wine and strong drink,”
