I remember reading how the ancient Romans had something called “the vomitorium.” This was a place where people went to vomit, as you could infer. And why was that? The account that I read was that it was a paean to gluttony. The Romans would eat and drink to excess, go throw up and then go back and do it all over again. This was in the day of Caligula, when he used to dissolve pearls with a kind of acid and drink the liquid pearls in a glass of wine, in a demonstration of conspicuous consumption and unforgivable waste. The reason I bring this image up today in this context, is because I envision myself in need of a vomitorium the next two weeks until Election Day, as one horrific news story after the next breaks. And trust me, they will. They will.

It makes perfect sense that Todd Blanche and Aileen Cannon would be on the short list for Donald Trump’s pick of cabinet appointees. And the other names on the list will not startle you either. Not one jot. As a matter of fact, you may want to join me in building your own vomitorium at home after you read this roster.

Cannon’s name appears on a document reviewed by ABC News titled “Transition Planning: Legal Principals,” which lists potential staffing for the White House counsel’s office, the Department of Justice, the FBI, and U.S. attorneys’ offices, as well as proposed candidates for the top legal positions within multiple government agencies, should Trump be reelected.

The document was drafted by Trump’s top advisers with input from Boris Epshteyn, who oversees Trump’s legal team and is one of Trump’s most trusted advisers, sources familiar with the matter said.[…]

Documents also propose several of Trump’s defense attorneys for top cabinet posts — including his lead attorney Todd Blanche, who has appeared in Cannon’s courtroom multiple times, and is listed as a candidate for deputy attorney general and White House counsel. Sources tell ABC News that Blanche is also being considered for FBI director.

Stanley Woodward, who represented Trump valet Walt Nauta in the classified documents case, is also among those being considered for top positions, including White House counsel, according to the documents.

It’s not clear whether Judge Cannon’s name being under consideration by Trump’s team could influence Smith in determining whether to request her removal from the classified documents case should an appeals court overturn her ruling dismissing the case. A spokesperson for the special counsel’s office declined to comment to ABC News.

Why, do you think that Trump dangling a cabinet post like Attorney General would sway Ms. Cannon’s judgement on the bench, and how she rules? The hell you say. Fancy that.

But on a larger canvas, you see what we’re up against. If you would have Todd Blanche running the FBI and Aileen Cannon as Attorney General, and I don’t even want to know who might end up helming the CIA or the NSA or any of the other security agencies. But I’m going to bet that Vladimir Putin has a lot of great suggestions.

Study your Russian, boys and girls. We may be speaking it as we become a colony of the Fatherland, as Putin dreams his impossible dream and the nightmare American candidate, the ugliest of all Americans, plans his Salvador Dali-esque political landscape for a 2025 Washington, D.C.

  1. 🤔 Uh-oh! I didn’t see Alina Habba on the list! The fury of a woman scorned…can be a very good source of indictment information!! 🤞

  2. Does anyone have any info on where Jack Smith’s appeal to the 11th is on cannon’s dismissal of the trump docs case is right now? Has it even been filed? I find it hard to believe that particular bit of blatant incompetence would be rewarded by the 11th but quite frankly I’ve been seeing a whole lot of cray lately. Little surprises me today.

  3. Actually a vomitorium was a fast exit passage from theatres and amphitheatres in Rome – nothing to do with being sick or over-fed.

Think of is as ‘exit’ (another Latin word that doesn’t mean what people think it means – it actually means ‘he goes’)
