Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Election Day 2020. You recall that the election was not actually called until the wee hours of November 7. I unfortunately fell asleep after doggedly watching coverage around the clock for days and had to see the jubilant moment in rerun. It rained in the desert that day, a sign which I interpreted as the heavens weeping for joy and of a new beginning.
I’m not the only one to think in Biblical terms about that day, as you see from the image above — which you can purchase for $7,500, by the way, and hang it in your MAGA clubhouse if you happen to have one out in the yard.
As you see from the imagery, hope springs eternal and Donald Trump is supposedly coming back to the White House just any minute now. The natives are restless and the tom toms are starting to beat in earnest.
That’s a familiar battle cry and here’s an imaginative vision to go along with the painting.

It can be very tempting to laugh at how absolutely absurd this whole situation is (and you should) but I want to encourage you to also consider how far gone someone has to be to drive out here to wait for a dead man to show up, and to consider how dangerous that truly is.

And check this out. This woman has a press pass to the White House and writes garbage that no credible blogger would even publish. This is how upside down things are.

Yes, it is a joke. The mentally ill can be quite funny. Maybe it’s tasteless to mock them for our sport but we do. But consider this: there are enough of them to keep the coffers of Fox News, Newsmax and OAN full, and they vote.
And the Looney Bird in Chief, the Former Guy, is the one stoking all this and keeping it alive. You recall when he tweeted out the Saturday before Christmas about the January 6 demonstration, “Be there, be wild”? That was a call to arms. The reason there is a subversive subculture in this country is because Donald Trump saw the potential to create one and grift off it, and that’s precisely what he did. And he didn’t have to think much about it either. Trump has the instincts of P.T. Barnum when it comes to exploiting peoples’ foibles and even Lindsey Graham has made that comparison.
Trump orchestrated January 6, like he was Cecil B. DeMille. He wanted to see how crazy it would get. Donell Harvin, who was the head of D.C. Homeland Security saw exactly how crazy it could get.
“After the tweet, we saw an exponential rise not only in the number of individuals who were looking to come to D.C. to demonstrate, but also the talk of violence,” Harvin said. “We saw many of what we call posts of concern with threatening information. And as we got close and closer we saw them sharing information, tactics, techniques and procedures that would lend themselves to essentially an attack.”
Asked why he took the threats seriously, Harvin said: “Quite frankly it’s the actors. These armed militia are serious players. Their capabilities are not to be doubted. They’re well trained, they’re well organized. Many of them have former law enforcement or military background. These are groups that we had never seen come to the District of Columbia. We know they’re out there, we monitor them, but they’re not really our concern, because they don’t really impact our area of responsibility.”
A week prior to the insurrection, an analyst working under Harvin effectively predicted the insurrection.
“Our lead analyst created a picture in which there were multitudes more people than expected, many of them were armed and sequestering weapons, and as a diversionary tactic two improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, were placed near the Capitol to draw law enforcement out to cut their numbers in half,” he said. “This was predicated by this analyst a week before it actually happened.”
They have no effing clue what they’re talking about. (If there hasn’t been a legit president since 1871 (a lie – the election was in 1872), then there are no legit justices either.)
They all need treatment for their delusions.
Agreed.
Hey merrick garland. Stop being the nice Jewish boy who made mama proud with ur titles & law degree & realize YOU ARE DEALING WITH NAZIS & NAZI SYMPATHIZERS. DO YOU FUCKING REMEMBER THE GODDAMN HOLOCAUST????? If u make the same mistakes made in Germany by trying to reason with these folks while YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT then when they steal power back under the guise of the law, IT WILL BE THE END OF DEMOCRACY AND THE START OF ATROCITIES. If you believe Trump & the rest of them have any moral compass, then you have ur head up ur ass. By the way the Jews didn’t save the world from Hitler. My 5 uncles & the 400,000 dead American boys did. Otherwise u wouldn’t even exist, unless ur family was RICH ENOUGH TO RUN. Well, there’s no fucking place to run or hide now. Grow a fucking set.
These x-tian extremists are ignoramuses of the first water.
I’m happy R B G isn’t still on the bench. She was far too mild in her sensibilities and morally upright in her conduct. The oncoming assault by pro right forces will test to the max, the moral turpitude these decisions sitting members are soon to adjudicate The sheer number of cases in the que already, and the tons following would test the mettle of Solomon himself. I take heart in the recent decision in regards to the Texas law preventing abortion after 6 weeks. While I am anti abortion in my beliefs I also believe in letting others go there own way and not hindering them with laws. Which one of us would not break that law if the situation were to happen in our own families? The Texas law was draconian and unconstitutional, and the Court understood that DEM and Rep and made the right call.
