Canadians are afraid to come to the US because of tRump’s threats and insanity. Can you blame them?
I ran across this interesting article on CNN about how Canadian people feel about coming to the US right now. The specific people they spoke to said they had cancelled trips because of what the Confused Carrot is doing. Between the trade wars, the border, and making Canada the 51st state, they are cancelling plans and staying home. They want to support Canada, not get worried about something that used to be so simple and now … isn’t. They want to be able to get home. They don’t want to get abused by MAGA, because you never know when you’re speaking with one.
This went so wrong so fast. From “joking” (in other words, trolling) Canada about the 51st state, to imposing a 25% tariff on imported goods from them, which would, of course, result in return tariffs, and then it gets even messier. The lack of respect from the Orangutan is telling. I don’t know what the hell is going on in his brain, but this isn’t right. Notice he’s said nothing about Mexico becoming a state, which is interesting. If you’re going to try for one, why isn’t he trying for both? The only similarity is slapping a 25% tariff on both.
Tariffs are the wrong way to handle what’s happening with our borders, which I think is partly overblown with the fentanyl, fentanyl, fentanyl. Yes, it’s a problem in the US, but he’s not looking at the rest of the drugs that come through. I saw a graphic showing how products come from China, then either go to Mexico and up, or to a port on the California coast. There’s likely a lot more that come through from our ports, than up from Mexico or down from Canada. Side note – Canada barely seized any fentanyl on their borders last year. Interesting, yes? Kinda makes you think even more. Working together is how we handle the borders, not making cruel jokes and threats.
The Orange Baby Balloon is even more unhinged this time, and we’re just about 3 weeks in. We won’t get into the Muskrat in this piece because it deserves, heh, its own rant. He is *still* signing Executive Orders, with numerous ones being illegal! Will SCOTUS stand up to him? Could we be that lucky? If he’s threatening Canada and Mexico now, what else will he do? Will he still go after the Panama Canal and Greenland, both actions of which are idiocy?
Our Canadian neighbors are afraid of us, or intend to stay home, or maybe go to a blue state, maybe. They are tired of The Mango Mandarin’s posturing. They are tired of “the 51st state” quips. They are tired of the derogatory remarks about their prime minister. They are tired of the fentanyl border. We used to be able to freely travel from one country to the next and back again. We can’t do that anymore. I don’t know if it can ever be that way again. Our façade of a President (hello Elon) has wrecked our relationships and we likely won’t ever be able to get them back.

I suspect he’s not calling for Mexico to become a state, because racism. Only good reason I can think of. Notice he doesn’t demonize Canadians.
I think that a second reason for which Trump would not want to have Mexico in the Union is the large number of drug cartels in Mexico. Would he want to have to deal with such violence and frequent assassinations of government officials in these United States? Also, the level of corruption in Mexico’s government probably exceeds even our own.
Oh, all those Spanish speakers! And the many who speak their ancestral languages, and they don’t even speak Spanish. Yes, Canada has its francophones, but I think that almost everybody can speak English if they want to, even in Quebec.

Nope, we’re not afraid. Disgusted and contemptuous, yes! But not afraid. Except for closet Americans like that idiot Kevin O’Leary who grew up 5 miles from me in Montreal, none of us want ANYTHING to do with Trump’s monumental idiocy. Neither do GreenLanders, or pretty much anyone else on the planet for that matter.
Susan, it’s more than just “likely” that most Fentanyl enters our land via our own ports: it’s fact. Almost no Fentanyl comes in from Canada. And very few illegal humans. What does cross that famous undefended border is a huge amount of legal trade and … tons of illegal guns from the USA. Trump’s absurd trolling of Canada is smoke & mirrors to distract us from his evil cabinet choices. And a nod to his controller Vladimir’s wish to destabilize the West, starting with America’s neighbors and moving next to Europe.
Canadians are concerned trump may send his thugs into protest rallies and violence may break out. He’d love that, a chance to impose martial law and show how tough he is. Canadians know the red states are armed to the teeth and medical costs are astronomical, so they’re skipping their winter sojourn in Florida, or choosing Mexico where it’s safer, drug cartels notwithstanding.
I suspect it’s because of that image from a meeting with Trudeau in his first term where Melanie is looking at Justin all gooey and cow eyed, that likely drove Donny crazy…
