It was a bit of a shakeup at the White House yesterday when Melania Trump did a six-minute long speech on Jeffrey Epstein, unbeknownst to her husband, who said he was aware of the speech but not the contents. Here’s a synopsis from Meidas Touch and then we’ll get to the “why.”
Melania Trump addressed the media today on Epstein in a surprise statement, although she took no questions from reporters. She lashed out at people connecting her with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, and named several people she has recently filed lawsuits against for social media posts and television commentary:
- “The lies linking me with Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. I’ve never been friends with Epstein. I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence.”
- “I am not Epstein’s victim. Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump. I met my husband by chance at the NYC party in 1998. This initial encounter with my husband is documented and detailed in my book.”
- “Numerous fake images and statements about Epstein and me have been percolating on social media for years now. Be cautious about what you believe. These images and stories are completely false. I am not a witness in connection with any of Epstein’s crimes.”
- “I was not a participant, was never on Epstein’s plane, never visited his private island. I have never been legally accused or convinced of a crime in connection with Epstein’s sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other repulsive behavior.”
- “The false smears about me from mean-spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name to gain financially and climb politically must stop. My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success and will continue to maintain my sound reputation without hesitation.”
…Epstein survivors issued a joint statement responding to Melania: “First Lady Melania Trump is now shifting the burden onto survivors under politicized conditions that protect those with power: DOJ, law enforcement, prosecutors, and the Trump admin, which has still not fully complied with the Epstein Transparency Act.”
… House Oversight ranking member Robert Garcia: “We agree with First Lady Melania Trump’s call for a public hearing with the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein. We encourage Chairman Comer to respond to the First Lady’s request and schedule a public hearing immediately.”
… Garcia on MS NOW: “The First Lady said two things: 1) She pushed back on Acting AG Todd Blanche and her husband’s efforts to kill this investigation. 2) She joined our efforts to call for a public hearing where survivors who choose to do so have an opportunity to testify.”
… Fox Senior WH Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich said Melania’s statement “came out of left field” for reporters at the WH: “We had no heads up on this. We’re not getting any information from them now, including whether or not the president was aware she would be making this statement. It’s unclear to us if she is reacting to something that’s already happened, already come out, or getting ahead of a story that might be about to drop. We don’t really know.”
… MS NOW reporter Jacqueline Alemany: “Just got off a quick call with President Trump who said he didn’t ‘know anything about’ FLOTUS’ statement prior to her on camera appearance, but that he was in a meeting about the war and couldn’t speak further.”
Now as to the why: Meidas Touch goes on to quote Independent journalist Wajahat Ali: “My speculation: Michael Wolff has said Epstein told him the first time Trump and Melania had sex was on Epstein’s Lolita Express Jet. He might release the audio of their interview or a similar story might confirm some of the sordid details. Melania is trying to get ahead of it.”
This is a tried and true method of controlling the narrative. Once you know a damaging piece is coming out, you get moving and get ahead of the piece.
Trump's three angry Truth Social posts in the last hour suggest he may not be too happy about Melania's statement on Epstein.
She doesn't bother defending Donald. And her reminder that Epstein didn't act alone is a kind of encouragement to look again into what Donald was up to.

Generally speaking, however, I think it behooves Melania to realize the nature of living in the White House fishbowl: she’s not the only person to have dreadful things said about her. Look at Michelle Obama being accused of being a man? Obama didn’t go out and sue everybody who made one of these cracks.
The White House is no place for a thin skin.

The woman is completely clueless. The first statement I quoted of her mentions “documented and detailed” in her “book” while the second statement blathers about “fake” images. The problem is that those images are CLEARLY “documented and detailed” as well. And there’s a good shot that her “book” is as “completely false” to many people (probably anyone able to read at a 4th grade level or higher) as she claims the images and stories of her and Epstein are.
Perhaps, if Melanoma is so absolute in her innocence, she wouldn’t mind appearing before the Committee and TESTIFYING ON THE RECORD (subject to criminal penalties of perjury as any other witness; of course, in her case, I’d just be willing to have her deported in lieu of jail time for lying to Congress) about her “limited” dealings with Epstein and Maxwell. Who thinks she’d go for that?
A book just came out. Andrew Lownie: Entitled about Prince Andrew / Epstein. In it….Epstein is quoted as having had sex a with Melania a year before tRump did in Epsteins plane. There’s probably more in the book and she wanted to get out in front of it. Stupid move. She now made EVERYONE super curious as to why she made that announcement. She was an adult – have sex with who ever she wanted. Gaslighting is not a good idea.
