The Trump family is a sick one. It’s not surprising that one member of it, Mary Trump, decided to study psychology. I venture to say that she was motivated to study psychology at least in part to understand her dysfunctional family and perhaps even its most toxic member, her Uncle Donald. Mary describes the Trump family as a transactional one. And she describes her cousin, Ivanka, as being that way. Ivanka, like her step-mother Melania, did not rush to be at Donald’s side during the hush money trial, not even the day of the verdict. Trump stood there with his lawyers, only, and heard the verdict pronounced 34 times, once for each count. Here’s Dr. Trump’s analysis.

There you heard that Melania and Barron were in Trump Tower. I don’t believe that, as I said yesterday. And I totally don’t believe that Jared and Ivanka were there because it’s no secret that Ivanka and Melania loathe each other. Yes, a three-story penthouse is a roomy place by any rational standard, but when you have a family whose relationships are fundamentally transactional, as Mary has pointed out, there’s not likely to be a lot of harmony, especially on a day when the patriarch just became a convicted criminal — months after being civilly adjudicated a rapist. Remember this?

But, that said, this is the former *First Family* which ostensibly represent what America is about, to some extent. And that they did. They represented everything that was bad about America. To paraphrase my favorite Trump quote, “It’s almost impossible to believe [they] exist. It’s like you took everything that was bad about America, scraped it off the floor, stuffed it inside an old hot dog skin and taught [them] how to make noises with [their mouths.]

Being rich and beautiful have long been American standards. For people on the lower rungs of this society, that’s the whole enchilada. To be rich and beautiful is everything. To people a bit more evolved, to be accomplished and knowledgeable are goals. To know something, to be able to do something, to do it well, to be the best, those are goals. And many people have it all. They are capable people, physically attractive, and their abilities have earned them a lot of money. There are many people fitting this description in all walks of American life, certainly politics.

But the Trumps only have the inherited money and what it can buy, including cosmetic surgery. That’s their claim to being part of The Beautiful People. And the real beautiful people don’t see it that way. I watched a brief clip of George Clooney being interviewed and he said that the last time he spoke to Donald Trump  was in the early 2000’s and Trump would ask him things like which cocktail waitress was single. That’s Trump’s level. Clooney knew it, anybody who knew Trump either in New York or Hollywood knew it. The man is no more presidential timber than he’s Olympic ice skating material.

Jared and Ivanka may have, at one time, expected that they would crack the ranks of high society and be part of the Met Gala crowd. They never did. And that’s because New York high society sees the Trumps for who and what they are. It’s not just about money or being able to create a certain physical look. It’s about actual substance and accomplishment, about making a contribution. And the Trumps come up empty. Unless you want to consider Melania and Ivanka *businesswomen* because of their tacky jewelry and clothing designs, made possible by Donald’s money, nothing else.

The sheer irony here is that you would think, “What in our culture can possibly be more substantive than holding the highest office in the land?” And you saw the answer when Trump bumbled and fumbled his way incompetently through office, killing hundreds of thousands of Americans through mismanaging COVID, not to mention making us the laughing stock of the world on other levels.

He couldn’t even show up on time to breakfast at the G-7 Summit in Canada in 2019, which caused French President Emmanuel Macron to openly mock him. Open mockery was the order of the day. Ivanka made an ass of herself at the G-20 Summit that same year when she said something asinine and off point about “male dominance” to some of the best diplomatic minds in the world, and they iced her.

The Trumps, collectively, demonstrate the validity of the old Turkish proverb, “If you send a clown to the palace, he doesn’t become a king. The palace becomes a circus.” The Trumps took that proverb one step further. The White House and our government became an open air zoo when they were in Washington, D.C.

I’m not surprised that Ivanka has been incognito. She was never cut out for this. You can’t enter any game at the top with zero qualifications and expect a result different from the one her father had, and she personally had. She was nicknamed Princess Purses, Nepotism Barbie and Melania was Hurricane Barbie, among other epithets.

My prediction is that you won’t hear from Ivanka anymore than you will from Melania during the campaign. Mary Trump said it all. The relationships are transactional. Nobody stood with Donald out of love. Yes, Eric and Junior showed up, of course Lara did, she’s the head of the RNC. Tiffany made a cameo appearance. They’re all on the payroll and trying to protect their inheritances.

Melania won’t show up and tell the world how wonderful her husband is on the campaign trail because she doesn’t want the blow back. Neither does Ivanka. These are doll people, these women. They don’t know much, can’t do much beyond look good. I’d like to see either one of them compete fairly on the open job market. Melania would end up passing out menus at a fancy restaurant as a hostess, Ivanka might be a decent kindergarten teacher.

They both sense — and this is my opinion, strictly — that the gravy train has basically derailed. It’s best to just let Donald go through whatever the Last Days look like for him and for them to stay as far the hell away as humanly possible. So far that’s what you have seen and that’s what you will see.

  1. Ivomit doesn’t need Daddykins’ money anymore……Stickboi JarJar got his $2 billion payoff from the Saudis for the documents naming Khashoggi and others as CIA operatives and Melanoma hates Fat Boi’s guts……she realizes there really is no money and Trump-O conned her into marrying him, so they both have kicked his sorry ass to the curb.

    • I expect Mrs. Von Shitzhispants is waiting for the right time to leave his ass and drop a tell-all memoir. Given our society, I expect it will sell well especially if it is lurid in its details. Anyway, that’s my prediction. Of course as a prognosticator, I make a good cook.

      • Spike, you’re no worse a prognosticator than 99% of the bloviators in front of TV cameras today. Thanks for your comment about the book, with which I heartily agree (I won’t be buying it, though).

      • For no reason I can figure, people who know me sometimes just ask me medical questions. I always say “well as a real estate developer my medical opinion is… ” and I just stop there and stare at them with me best “honestly, what were you thinking asking me something unrelated to real estate or hockey?!” look. Same concept. Thanks for making me laugh, Chef Spike. 🙂
