I’m afraid to ask whose idea this was but all arrows so far point to Elon Musk. I’ll bet that Matt Drudge himself is howling. One possibility is that the Trump White House thought that by copying Matt Drudge’s style it would be thought that the Drudge Report was now publishing at the White House. Or, maybe that a report that looks exactly like the Drudge Report would be thought to actually be the Drudge Report. Drudge has been critical of Trump for quite some time but this new report might appear to be Drudge capitulating and returning to the MAGA fold. We can only speculate. But hit this link to WhiteHouseWire and you decide. Every Drudge-esque link goes to a Twit/X video and article. So possibly this was one of Elon’s brainchildren.

That’s what it all shakes down to is all-Donald, all the time on TwitX, with a Drudge intro. Axios:

Why it matters: The site, called “White House Wire,” represents the administration’s latest effort to circumvent the mainstream media and present itself in a positive light.

  • The Trump administration has ruffled the feathers of establishment media giants by inviting Trump-friendly outlets and personalities into the the White House briefing room.
  • The White House has also punished mainstream outlets whose coverage it doesn’t approve of — most notably AP, whose access it curtailed after the outlet refused to rename the “Gulf of Mexico” the “Gulf of America.”

Driving the news: The White House Wire, which has the url link WH.gov/wire, presents columns of links that send readers to articles.

  • “THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FIRST 100 DAYS IN PRESIDENTIAL HISTORY,” the site’s headline blared on Tuesday evening that linked to a Fox News article.
  • “24/7 FOURTY-SEVEN,” read a ticker on the site.
  • “Border shutdown tops list of Trump’s successes at 100 days,” said one headline that linked to a Washington Times story.
  • “The President’s First 100 Days Is a Return to American Greatness,” said one that linked to a Newsweek op-ed authored by Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall.
  • Another linked to Trump’s interview this week with ABC News.

The intrigue: The website looks similar to the Drudge Report, the popular political website which also serves as a bulletin board for links.

The obvious point to be made here is that this is Trump’s latest endeavor to get out ahead of the news cycle. He’s saying that “this is Joe Biden’s economy” and no it’s not as the calendar rolls over to May. Trump is minimizing the things he’s done while in office as if they don’t matter — in some articles, while saying amazing changes to the land have happened in others — but everything happening economically today is the result of some holdover from Biden. No, that is not the case.

“In the first-quarter GDP numbers, just out today, core GDP … was up plus 3 percent, But, this is Biden’s economy, because we took over on Jan. 20, and I think you have to give us a little bit of time to get moving. But this is the Biden economy,” Trump said.

He also argued that “the private sector growth was actually very good” after he won the election.

Data released Wednesday by the Commerce Department found that the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) shrank during the first quarter of 2025, falling at an annualized rate of 0.3 percent during the first three months of the year after an annualized increase of 2.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Trump had said he should get credit for the stock market highs while he was running for president last year, arguing his strong polling against Biden at the time helped the markets.

Trump earlier this month imposed hefty tariffs on all trading partners, setting off steady loses on Wall Street. He announced a 90-day pause on tariffs a week later, amid increasing pressure from top investors and Capitol Hill, and kept a 10 percent tariff in place on all trading partners and a 145 percent overall tariff on China.

Trump earlier Wednesday blamed turbulence on the stock market on Biden too, insisting market tumbles were not the result of his tariff policy.

You have the overall picture here. Propaganda rules the day because Trump is asking you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It is his final, most essential directive. And in lieu of what you see and hear, he’s showing you on White House Wire what he wants you to see, hear, and believe. We are in some mentally unhinged territory here.

  1. You can never have too much propaganda, especially when half the adult voting public wants to be lied to, and are willing to suffer and pay for the existential and economic flogging.

  2. Paraphrasing a bit but it’s funny how Drumpf’s saying that “private sector growth was actually very good” after he won the election (which happened in “Biden’s economy”) BUT the bad GDP numbers are *absolutely* because it was part of “Biden’s economy.” And if the stock market increases last year were because he was running–even though it was part of “Biden’s economy”–why doesn’t Drumpf accept the stock market plummets are *SOLELY* part of the Drumpf economy? I know–it’s that overinflated ego of his. If only Drumpf were a quantum lichen being (from “Futurama”), so we could get rid of that monster; maybe the remnants of Drumpf would be easier to handle.
