Here on Politizoom Ursula has noted multiple times Trump wanted to get elected again to avoid prison. She’s right. Alas, there’s more because he’s a vindictive a-hole who will never, ever forgive this country for tossing him out of the WH in 2020. He wants payback, and in the form of becoming King, Dictator and Master of all the Earth rolled up into one. He wants to be able to point at ANYONE and say lock them up and throw away the key, or shoot them dead where they stand. Thanks to SCOTUS he’s got damned near that kind of power in that he can avoid criminal consequences. That leaves only political ones, and Trump has browbeaten the GOP and too many others into submission. Fortunately some pushback is finally starting. However Trump wants to kill off any vestige of the Constitutional Republic we’ve been. Starting with the Presidency as I’ve noted!
“Execute.” Many words in the English language have different meaning depending on the context in which they are used. The Constitution actually sets forth the special Oath of Office Presidents take, and it includes a statement they will “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.” In that context it means carry out or perform. Much like ‘executing a plan of action’ whether in business or the military or even in one’s life (i.e. getting a college degree or buying a home) means to accomplish some task or goal. But there’s another meaning for the word “Execute” and it means to KILL.
To virtually everyone else when Trump raised his right hand with his left on a bible (that it didn’t burst into flames suggests to me my doubts about the existence of God are well justified) said he’d “Execute” his Office they thought he meant carry out his Constitutionally prescribed duties. Trump proved in his first term he doesn’t want to bother with all the duties being President demands of someone. During his initial meeting with Obama after the 2016 election when given a brief overview Trump famously complained he didn’t realize the job involved so much WORK!. Then again, we are talking about a moron who PAINTS HIS FACE ORANGE so we really shouldn’t have been surprised by that.
Now Trump simply wants to soak up all the glamour of the job, the “bennies”, the ceremonial stuff and because he’s a vile, cruel person get his rocks off by inflicting suffering on others. Just for fun. And, while he’s at it destroy every vestige of the Constitutional order that in his effed up mind cost him what he viewed as his birthright – reelection in 2020! Starting with the very office he holds. He doesn’t believe this country should have President as defined by the Constitution and historical norms. So, he’s trying to kill off the Presidency as we know it.
When conservatives have argued their dubious “Unitary Executive” theory (only if a Republican is in the WH however – they are horrified at the thought of a Democrat treating the Presidency under those terms) what Trump is doing is more than they are comfortable with. When you have someone like The Federalist Society’s Leonard freaking Leo publcily voicing objection to Trump and MAGAism it’s a safe bet serious discussions are taking place among power brokers who’s money and influence dwarfs that of Elon Musk. In the meantime as Newsweek tells us Leo is fronting a legal challenge to Trump and the tariffs.
Then there’s Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal that’s come with a doozy of a ‘Trump’s gotta go” piece. They come out and say it would be better for everyone including Trump, or at least his ‘legacy’ if he were to suddenly up and die! Wow. I sure didn’t see that one coming. Oh, they couched it in talk of Lincoln and FDR shuffling off this mortal coil once their ‘work was assured’ but come on! It’s a good thing Ronnie Jackson headed to Mar a Lago to beg Trump to get to talk to reporters about Trump’s physical proving he’s still the most awesomely healthy, fit, svelte and athletic man that’s ever existed. Dr. Pill Dispenser will have one helluva time medicating Trump into a stupor without killing him.
Anyway, late on this Saturday night we see Trump’s approval (both overall and on the economy) tanking and it’s unlikely to recover anytime soon. If ever and I for one don’t think that particular someday when Trump’s approval gets back even in the ballpark of what it was when he was sworn in this past January will ever come. There IS some measure of good news/hope out there. Trump keeps losing in court much more often than he wins so there’s that. Also, while it’s nowhere near enough at least some Republicans are coming out and saying “wait a minute dude!” at least on the issue of tariffs and the economy. I don’t see the House voting Articles of Impeachment, much less the Senate convicting Trump to get him out of office which is something else I gather the WSJ thinks should happen at the very least.
What matters is that even conservatives who are terrified of Trump are (again, not enough of them or fast enough but let’s take what we can get) becoming MORE terrified of their voter’s wrath. AND of what Trump is doing to the Office he holds and the general Constitutional order. The thing about Oligarchies is that there are only a few dozen or so seats at the table and there’s a whole lot of GOP Congress Critters who know damn well they won’t be one of the lucky ones allowed into the Palace, much less that table.
But make no mistake. Trump is literally trying to Execute as in KILL the Office of the Presidency as both Americans and the world have seen it. (And counted on) That word “Execute” means something different to him than it does to the rest of it hence my title pic. Anyone who’s seen the delightful movie The Princess Bride recalls the dude repeatedly shouting “INCONCEIVABLE” and Inigo Montoya finally saying “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.’ Hence the title pic. And our mission to teach Trump what the word actually means in the context of the Oath he took. AND since he didn’t mean a word of that oath if he won’t as the WSJ suggests up and die, find a way to drive him from office. Or at least hold off the worst of what he can do until Nov. 2026 when we can neuter him in the midterms.
