What happened to him, indeed. He didn’t use to weaponize the DOJ to be Trump’s personal defense lawyer. Has the power gone to his head? There are any number of explanations, none of which make any sense. Does Trump have something on him? Were his ethics that easily corrupted? Did Pam Blondi get him started on the way down before she was fired? With Blanche going to talk alone with Ghislaine, and her getting moved to a much cushier prison with her own staff? She should have stayed in the sex offender prison. Before that, not much was known about Blanche. So what’s going on? Apologies for the delay. Let’s ask Raw Story:
A legal expert delivered a stunning comment about Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Justice Department on Thursday. In a Substack interview with President Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump and former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance, Vance argued that the corruption of the DOJ has hit a fever pitch. And as Blanche awaits Senate confirmation to be the United States Attorney General, it’s clear that he has sacrificed his responsibility to serve the country and instead “he’s functioning as the president’s criminal defense attorney,” Vance said.
As we all know, he was confirmed. So much for the hope of sanity, of doing the right thing. Now, we will get to wait and see what he does with it, likely nothing good. All he cares about is protecting Trump, which means he has a lot of work to do. That tax return protection that he signed – is it even legal? And how would we find out? If it *is* legal, under what law(s)? And if it isn’t, it should be voided. But who could void it besides SCOTUS, and we all know how much good they would do.
“That is not the job of the Attorney General,” Vance explained. “The Attorney General represents the American people, not the president,” Vance said. “Todd Blanche was once regarded very highly by many of the lawyers who worked with him in the Southern District of New York. They considered him a good lawyer and a good person. Somewhere along the way, though, he lost his way.” There has been a difference between Blanche, who was considered a “good lawyer and good person,” and those who have stood up against Trump, Vance argued.
You see? He was a decent person, and now he isn’t. That’s painful to find out. It was one thing to think of another person who sold their soul to Trump, but this? What a waste of a good talent and a good reputation. Bondi was eventually fired, and it’s likely Blanche will be punted out the door, too. It’s surprising the Trump regime … er, administration held together as long as it did. Some of us were expecting it to be 6 months max, and it wasn’t. (If he would just get rid of Hegseth…)
“We watched respected attorneys in the Southern District of New York lose their careers because they refused to compromise their professional ethics. Todd Blanche remained fully complicit throughout all of it,” Vance said. “That’s because Todd Blanche doesn’t believe in the rule of law. He believes in the rule of Donald Trump. He believes in the unitary executive, in an all-powerful presidency,” she added. “I honestly don’t know that there are enough adjectives available to describe how dangerous this is,” Vance said. “So let me say it plainly. This is the end of the Department of Justice as we’ve known it.”
Again, what happened to Todd Blanche? Apparently, all that time as his lawyer in a civil suit for Trump changed him. He thinks Trump can make him rich? He doesn’t want to be “left behind”? He has “Trump” disease? Was he a closet MAGA? It never makes sense when a good lawyer goes bad. What happened to you, Todd Blanche?
