It cannot be overstated how stupid and ill advised it was on Donald Trump’s part to lash out in all-caps, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social today. That’s the cultural equivalent of I hate ice cream or I hate puppies. It is not going to win any points, only lose them. I venture to say that even Devin Nunes is cringing in a corner somewhere, this is so embarrassing. Within minutes of Trump posting his nasty gram to Swift, his own MAGAs jumped online and asked him to tone it down — or take down the post. And the post did not get cross-posted to Twitter, as I expected it would not. Whomever maintains the Trump reposting account on Twitter does damage control from time to time and this was one of those times.

According to Lawfare senior editor, “Going after Taylor Swift is a genuinely bad campaign strategy. Taylor doesn’t get mad, she gets even,” before citing a Swift song with the line, “I don’t start sh-t, but I can tell you how it ends.”

On Truth Social, some supporters of the former president lamented the turn of events that could have an impact on the November election.

DaaMaga wrote, “Why are you doing this? I doesn’t help you. Just ignore her. Focus on Kamala’s agenda.”

Oh boy… this one isn’t going to help much. Why couldn’t we just ignore her and move on?” Speedy 13 asked.

S.R. Leightner asked, “I wonder if his account got hacked,” to which another commenter added, “That’s what I was wondering.”

Leightner later added, “The less he talks about someone, the less the news reports about them. He’s actually calling attention to her and giving her more press. Im disappointed President Trump even said this. It makes him look like he’s 13 – and I Iove the man! Trump 2024!”

“Maybe Delete this one Boss,” rjdarlin suggested.

Christian Conservative lamented, “I love this country and I want to help your son continue your fight! You guys need another perspective desperately.”

“Don’t pick a fight with swifties. That’s a losing message. Just ignore and move on. I would take down that post asap,” Rip1 suggested.

And then George Conway chimed in. Conway believes Trump is losing his mind publicly. He’s not alone in that. Mary Trump, Donald’s clinical psychologist niece, has been saying this for years.

If Laura Loomer is running the show, and so far that doesn’t seem to be too far fetched a notion, then the campaign is collapsing. All that Trump has achieved this entire week is to further make a spectacle of himself and to look old, worn out and haggard.

And J.D. Vance tripling down on the Haitian-Springfield fantasy is ridiculous. We are watching not only the collapse of the Trump/Vance campaign, we are watching the concurrent collapse of the Republican party.

Depending on how bad the bloodbath is in November, we will be able to estimate how many years it will take the GOP to rebuild. I am seriously wondering if they can find some equilibrium and balance in less than four presidential cycles.

And yes, I know, don’t count the chickens before they’re hatched. I’m not saying we count on a Harris/Walz win and stop working. I am merely saying this:

  1. The polls have consistently been trending pro-Harris/Walz since Biden left the race;
  2. The crowds that Harris and Walz are able to attract are stunning, both in size and enthusiasm. That cannot be denied;
  3. Voter registration is up. Just the other night when Taylor Swift posted a link, 260,000 new voters registered. And contributions to Harris/Walz were $20 million in one day. Perhaps that’s why Trump hates her;
  4. The volunteers for Harris/Walz are numerous. Young people, particularly, are getting involved;
  5. The Harris/Walz campaign is flooding swing states with advertising. I know because I live in one.

If you add all these factors together, there’s a good chance that the Republicans are going to lose again. And that fact will beg the question — yet one more time — can they get to a post-Trump party? If so, how and with who at the head?

Trump is cracking up publicly. What you are seeing is not a normal presidential race. You’re seeing a man losing his mind in public and nobody cares enough about him — or the Republican party as an institution — to stop this embarrassment.

    • Marie. Phuck him and them. I feel sad for the children they’ve MURDERED…and those orphans from the border who will never see their families again. Then there’s the million plus families living with grief because of his gaslighting the public daily over covid. The list goes on and on. Phuck those nazi bastards. They will do worse if he gains power again. Count on it.

  1. I don’t think Taylor will shed a tear for endorsing Kamala and Tim. If anything she will pick up more fans and increase sales of her music. The mango maniac on the other hand is desperate. As George says, he’s not just running for president, he’s running to stay out of jail. With extreme RWNJ’s elbowing their way in to the inner circle, LaCivita seems to be signaling that he’s ready to go. When he does, trump’s campaign will collapse, utterly, leaving his only remaining option to flee the country. Seriously, that’s the way things are shaping up.

    • But will he be smart enough to flee? My first thought is he is losing his mind. On second thought the fear of prison would be enough to make him leave.

  2. Well, Ursula, Hubby and I have friendly bets on day/time Loomer’s words will come verbatim from Trump’s maw! I don’t think Trump has mentioned “curry” yet, but my money is on Trump repeating Loomer’s claim that “if Harris is elected, she’ll have us all speaking ebonics!” 💩🤬 Ebonics?! That has not been used as a slur against Blacks in decades and I can’t imagine her braindead MAGA followers know what it means!! Comedian Eddie Griffin used to riff on it, 30 years ago, when bigots claimed schools in Black communities were having trouble finding enough Ebonics-speaking teachers! Griffin angrily reminded bigots his kids’ first language is ENGLISH no matter what fun they have learning other dialects!! And, Loomer shows how deeply idiotic it is to claim Harris is “not Black and never has been” but if she’s elected, she’ll make us all speak in a Black language!! I wish this was funny, but it’s deadly serious!! 🤬

    • What, is everyone going to learn Swahili? Someone ask that twat loomer if that will be the African (Black) language we’ll be learning. Ought to be fun actually.

  3. You know what REALLY kills Trump’s ego? It’s not that Swift has for years PACKED bigger venues than Trump (and thousands, even tens of thousands who wanted tickets were left wanting) but that people pay through the nose to get one of those seats in those PACKED venues. Even the cheap seats in the nosebleed sections go for many hundreds of dollars! Trump can’t draw the kinds of crowds Swift has done for years, but he’s been known to (since his initial ‘I’m running’ announcement had to sometimes pay people to show up. Not much but he sure as hell has never had a rally where attendees by the tens of thousands shelled out an average price of a thousand bucks or so a ticket!

    No wonder he hates Taylor Swift.

    • And she didn’t come from money. She writes and performs songs that have earned her that kind of following. I’m sure he can’t grok that at all.

      • Actually, she did come from money and a lot of it. Her parents are one percenters-father came from three generations of banking bosses and himself worked for Merrill Lynch. He bought the label (Nashville) where Ms. Swift started her recording career. Her talent, obviously, is her own but her start-not so much.

  4. “According to Lawfare senior editor, “Going after Taylor Swift is a genuinely bad campaign strategy. Taylor doesn’t get mad, she gets even,” ”

    Hmm. Does this sound like anyone else we’ve heard of? A certain septuagenarian with a propensity for wearing makeup and name-calling? Who’s been described–by some of his own supporters–as “never forgetting a slight” and “nursing a grudge for decades?”

    Or how about the way Swift’s fans will swarm to the social media accounts of someone perceived to be an “enemy” and viciously attack them? (Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend posted something a little “mean” about Kelce not long after he started “dating” Taylor, and the Swifties swarmed to her Twitter account and started posting a lot of very nasty comments; Taylor never said a single thing to put a stop to it.)

    Taylor Swift is really little better than Trump and her fans can be just as rabid as any MAGAt in defense of their “idol.” The bulk of her “career” came as the result of dating high-profile guys–mostly in the biz–and then after breaking up with them, writing vengeful and spiteful songs about them. More recently, it’s all been how “unfair” the biz has been to her, whether her record label’s refusing to just give her the masters to her original recordings to blaming Ticketmaster for failing to handle the response to her unexpected announcement about her “Eras” tour or how she thought she should be the only artist ever who never had to deal with scalpers and blaming Ticketmaster for the scalpers.

    I cannot stand Swift (again, I think she’s little better than the flip side of Donald Trump).

    • Didn’t know all that…but at least she’s not trying to end democracy. Let’s face it…as a culture, our priorities have been out of whack from the jump, otherwise teachers would be making big bucks, and no athlete would be on CNN pontificating about vaccines. If Trump fighting with her fans helps the cause so be it.
