What the hell is this? Why, why, why? Stupidity comes from the top down, apparently. They will all be confused. What is the point? Higher expenses for American population because someone is stupid. Allies and business partners. Threats have become reality – and idiocy. This isn’t going to bring costs DOWN for us. No, no, it’s going to increase them and hello MAGA, did you think before pushing that button to vote yes? See what happens when he gets all important and pontificates and thinks he is the only one who’s right in the world?
Today tariffs on Mexico and Canada and China will go into effect. 25% on Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% on China. This is to stop all the fentanyl coming through from our borders. *snort* Apparently, he does not realize that they will do the same to us, so that means the American consumer gets a double whammy. So we have the one that will be on goods and services from the 3 countries listed and then the tariffs that they put on *us* because we put tariffs on them. I’m pretty sure they have a plan for this already because The Child happened to announce he was going to do it. They’ve had quite a bit of time to make their preparations.
MAGA screams will be music to my ears. You voted for him. See what you did? There’s a long line of promises that have been broken already but you thought he would do what he said. There were a lot of foolishness from him and it’s all going downhill. Grocery prices are increasing, not decreasing and will continue to do so, not at twice the rate of speed since he slapped tariffs on them. Good one, folks!!! Seems like there was some sort of progression that wasn’t *too* horrible and now? Oh, lordy, now its going to be rough, I’ve seen a number of things double in price already and he *hadn’t* slapped the tariffs on people.
I think it likely that folks never *really* thought about what this means. Okay, prices are going up because there is inflation. It’s been gradual enough, at least for me, that we can plan stuff out and not be at zero in the bank account. I’m afraid of what these dueling tariffs are going to do to us. You really can’t plan for it now because it’s not going to be slow and it’s going to be horribly erratic and it’s not going to be manageable.
So, WTF do we do with this jerk for another 1,460 days minus 11? I have no idea. I can sit and type and hope it’s manageable. It won’t be but I can try. It means we have to cut back on pretty much everything. That irks me. Just because The Confused Carrot has to do something stupid and flap his lips about how mighty he is … but he isn’t. HE doesn’t have to worry about getting something. He’s rich and stays in a rich mindset. Of *course* he wouldn’t keep his promises.
******And now, please read a very special request from our awesome boss******
Friends, I am forced to self-promote and ask you for money. We had a bad year compared with 2023 and the end of the year has been catastrophic. Traffic died on November 5. We are a small blog and completely self-supporting by ad revenue, donations, and subscriptions. If you can afford a monthly subscription that would help us out. If you can make a small donation, likewise. Our only goal is to stay in business and give you the best content we can generate. You are the wind beneath our wings. Thank you. Ursula

just boycott and forget about the histrionics
Um, “boycott” WHOM exactly? Far too many of us have very few options of “acceptable” vendors and products which are 100% in line with progressive values.
Are you planning to boycott Canadian, Mexican and Chinese imported products? Or just products by US companies that utilize products made in those countries? Or just those US companies whose leaders have bowed the knee to Trump? Whom? Whom do we boycott?
When right-wingers spent so many decades engaging in their boycotts of Disney and other companies over those companies’ pro-LGBTQ+ policies, we may have fully gone out of our way to support those companies but we had a REASON to buy or support those companies (mainly to see all those conservative snowflake tears). The same when Hannity got boycotted, mainly over his support of Roy Moore–again, there was a REASON provided for the boycott.
But you’re just calling for a random boycott without giving a reason or target of the boycott.
We need to get real about who’s pulling the strings. Orange pus was put in place because he’s stupid, easily manipulated, reactive and for sale. The guy is a puppet and we’re all going to be paying the price for the idiots who thought he had anything more than a big mouth and an oversized ego to offer.
I don’t just blame the brain dead voters. I blame the GOP for their lack of principles, integrity and patriotism.
Every. Single. Repugnican OWNS this rolling burning dumpster fire of an administration. The law makers in the GOP and other party leadership have been completely SPINELESS when it comes to dealing with the Paper Tiger ManChild posing as the president. I have ZERO sympathy for anybody who voted for this guy and soon is going to see that he does not care one whit about the average MAGAt on the street. You will feel the pain with tRump as president, right along with the rest of us who had the common decency and good judgment to vote against him. We will all go down together unless we ALL fight back together! Call your congressman men and women, most especially if they are GOP. Tell them you vote in his or her district and that tRump needs to GO, now. We need to work fast if we are going to turn this around. God help America!
Trump plays golf and bloviates in front of the camera. The real business is being done by the Project guys in the background, teeing up from the script for Trump and the nominated Cabinet, generally unqualified and inexperienced. As time presses on more and more powers are taken, more offices are compromised, more workers sidelined or cowed. It seems impossible to stop as the tsunami of actions washes over UNLESS there is a groundswell of anger/resistance which floods into the political level. Sure, we need to energise Democratic pols to be visible, articulate, publicise and resist what is going on, but they also need to build bridges and alliances with those Republicans who can be persuaded. It only needs a handful, given the figures. Trump power will pass its peak PDQ as the Project agenda bites and the turnaround will be swift but, even if he is sidelined, the enablers will still be in post. They can be neutered by a non-compliant Congress if bridges are built in the short term and, hopefully, the mid-terms begin to right the ship
I’m afraid that we won’t be voting in 2026 and especially not in 2028. He’s already talking about a 3rd term. The spineless GOP congress critters would vote for that I’m sure.
