It seems that things are worse than we thought inside those walls. A former insider says it’s, well, chaos. Again, Trump didn’t think something through. The choice this country made is not a surprise. If you extrapolate out, it certainly makes sense. Now, the panic is rising, and not just in America. It’s worldwide. Nice going, a$$hole. Long one, please stay with me. With gratitude to Raw Story:
Former Trump administration Homeland Security staffer Miles Taylor delivered a blistering assessment Thursday on MS NOW on how unprepared President Donald Trump was for the risk that Iran would shut down the Strait of Hormuz. “One of the things I really have been trying to do is not to let my biases and priors override how I am interpreting the news, which is I obviously don’t think particularly highly of the individuals that run the federal government or White House,” said anchor Chris Hayes. “But at the same time, I want to think, well, it can’t be as shambolic as it looks, right? I’m missing something. Obviously, the Department of Defense has an incredible architecture around planning. As someone who worked in the first Trump administration, like, how are you interpreting these signals?”
I also try to be fair at least part of the time. I certainly can’t do it all the time, especially when it comes to Trump and his ‘cabinet’. My feelings about them are deep and rude, and it shows. But that’s okay. Here, a former staffer lays it out. His knowledge is much greater than ours in that respect. We only see the public FUBARs.
“Chris, I’m going to tell you this. It is not as bad as it looks. It is so much worse,” said Taylor. “It is so much worse because Donald Trump and the people around him have a predilection for putting this veneer over their lack of planning and making it seem always like it’s four-dimensional chess when it’s less than checkers, okay? When it’s like coin-flipping instead of checkers, that is what is happening inside that administration.”
“And if you think that is exaggeration, I will walk you through what I think was the most serious situation I was involved in in the first term, which is that we were barreling towards nuclear war with North Korea,” said Taylor. “And Donald Trump made it seem like all the bluster was four-dimensional chess to try to get them to the negotiating table.
Oof. What we *aren’t* seeing is so much worse. I’m pretty sure I didn’t want to know that. And now we do. They have no plans. They’re playing it by ear and flying by the seat of their pants, or Depends in Trump’s case. There are no longer people with any sense in the administration. Our country has gone to hell, we’re in an illegal war, and *no one* knows what they are doing. That’s almost terrifying.
Well, I will tell you what his Cabinet members thought. His Cabinet members thought he was as crazy as a fox, and he was going to accidentally get us into a nuclear war to the point that we had to do literal, real-life nuclear planning at Homeland Security in anticipation that the president might accidentally get us into a nuclear conflict, and we would have to play clean-up here on the defensive side.” “That’s pretty serious stuff that the president doesn’t know what he’s doing. He might get us into a nuclear war,” Taylor added.
“Now, here we are much further along in a situation like that,” he said. “And I’ll remind you, Chris, with a country that Donald Trump’s own envoy has said had enough fissile material for potentially 11 nuclear weapons, and even though they don’t have enough enrichment capability, he just said two days ago on CNBC, they could still turn it into a dirty bomb. And now he’s gone to war with that country. That’s how reckless this is. These guys aren’t thinking three inches in front of their faces.”
They aren’t thinking at all. It’s all glory hounding. It’s “look at how powerful we are”, except we’re flopping at that, too. All that money spent on bombing Iran, with not much to show for it. All the loss of life on both sides. We took out their leader, and it didn’t make one damn bit of difference. It’s becoming an endless war of attrition. What is the *real* point?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Rump is re-creating in the world at large, the chaos and darkness between his ears. If his brains were dynamite, he wouldn’t have enough to blow his nose with. His ‘brain’ rattles around in his head like a BB in a boxcar. This moron, this psycho, is making us all suffer for his incomparable insecurity, his desperate need for praise, his absolute and total ignorance, his lack of respect or regard for self and others, his lack of values, morals. This guy is a walking disaster and somehow, he’s the one calling the shots. I don’t get it. How many of us will die because of him this time around?
You write better than I do! 🙂 🙂
I may have to steal the “brains were dynamite” line.
Too many servicemembers have already died. Trump dishonored them by wearing a damn ball cap. And how many more will die here because of the money thrown down the drain? You can only squeeze so much blood from a penny….
