Anything is possible in politics as you’ll now see as Ted Cruz spills the beans on Donald Trump. Everything he says here is true and the tragic part is that, like Lindsey Graham, he didn’t stick to his guns. He forgave Trump for all of it, the insults to his father, his wife, and caved in and became MAGA. Here’s the lucid Ted Cruz, from back in the day, ten years ago today.

Cruz saw the truth. And the fact is that Trump can lie three different ways in any given day and pass a lie detector because he exists on short term memory. Everything in Donald’s world is a sound bite, whether the cameras are rolling or not. Trump is made for TV, just make sense for thirty or sixty seconds and you’re done.

A lot of people, Republicans included, saw Trump for who and what he was ten years ago. But they found a reason to ignore it all and back him. That’s both complicity and complacency. And here we sit today, in economic woe and in a fruitless war because the Republicans in power lacked grit and backbone.

Trump took advantage of that vacuum in leadership and we have a hollowed out GOP and a MAGA third party, which is dwindling daily as more and more people wake up at the gas pump and the checkout line.

  1. Well, the seeds for the GOP’s kowtowing to Drumpf were laid 6 years earlier when the powers that be in the GOP decided to cave in to the Teabaggers who threatened to bolt the GOP and form third-party and independent campaigns in 2010 if the Party didn’t give in to their demands. Funny thing about that is that the Teabaggers would’ve had a hell of a time complying with their various state election laws regarding ballot access but GOP leaders were so concerned about losing power that they folded (meanwhile, the Teabaggers were more than willing to be out of power for a cycle or two to prove THEY were the “real” conservatives and the mainstream GOP leadership was a bunch of “centrists” and “RINOs”–mainly because this “grassroots” movement was being funded by big-name millionaires and billionaires, playing the long game).
