This is very plausible. In fact, it’s beyond plausible, it’s probable, because of all of the options that Rudy Giuliani has right now in terms of how to play the few cards that he’s got, this is by far the best way to go.

Giuliani has been asked to testify in the investigation which the Manhattan D.A. is conducting against Donald Trump. He has cause to cooperate there, because in a criminal investigation he can do himself some good. But the January 6 Committee investigation is not criminal and so he doesn’t have the same impetus to cooperate.

But he does have another powerful impetus to cooperate, more powerful in fact than whether he can bargain for some leniency for his own actions in exchange for his testimony. With respect to January 6, Giuliani, who knows where the bodies are buried if anybody does, can use that information to get something from Trump which he desperately needs: money. Giuliani has been hemorrhaging money for some time and Trump is the obvious one to staunch the bleeding.

Trump owes Giuliani a lot of money, just like Trump owes a lot of people a lot of money. And Rudy wants to get off of that one list and get onto a smaller, more exclusive list, marked “paid.”

It’s a fact that Trump is raking in donations. He’s got a yuuge war chest. He could pay Giuliani if he wanted to. He doesn’t want to and they both know it.

There’s no honor among thieves and you’re about to see that axiom demonstrated. Good for Giuliani. Good for anybody who gives Trump a taste of his own medicine.

This makes so much sense when you think about it. Giuliani was not like the others in Trump’s circle. He didn’t immediately say that he would ignore the subpoena. Just the opposite. So this is probably what he had in mind all along, was to how to make himself look good and get Trump to pay him. Not a bad package deal. There are plenty of other people who wish they could come out of this smelling as rosy.

  1. Rudy is hoping to maintain his freedom and his standard of living. He needs to get realistic. TFG is not going to pay him now. He needs all the grift for his own situation. Rudy may be able to maintain his freedom w/cooperation. In no scenario is he going to be able to maintain his former standard of living. That took a big hit when Judith Nathan divorced him and now that he is disbarred, it’s not looking good for the future.

    • Well, Nixon didn’t go to jail because there was no legal way to put him there–especially after Ford pardoned him. He resigned before the Watergate scandal could lead to impeachment which could’ve then led to criminal charges that could’ve put him in jail.

  2. If Rudy is trying to use testifying as a means to make Trump pay him, this is only going to anger Trump. It will backfire on Rudy & he’ll have to testify, which will be followed by a Trump tongue lashing! Trump won’t cave & give up his grift money! Trump’s ego is too big to allow someone to demand money actually owed! No way Trump pays Rudy!

    • Well that’s not entirely true. Rudy knows things that would be bad for trump. He’s tried several times to get money from the cheapskate. Now he’s putting it out there. Are you going to pay me or do I testify. Sort of shit or get off the pot. Besides he’s going to have to do something. Hell there’s still his Ukraine deals. Rudy has two or three years worth of criminal activities that are going to come out. He needs to get ahead of this. Otherwise his golden years are going to be behind bars. Trump is fading fast. The accountant thing is bad for trump.
