By any measure Trump’s cray cray weekend of campaigning in the swing states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania was one for the record books, with the geriatric dotard calling his opponent in the coming election “stupid” and “mentally impaired” (charges that have drawn a bit of rare public criticism from his fellow Republicans), called for a “Purge” like day of extreme violence against shoplifters, accused immigrants of lurking outside your kitchen waiting for an opportunity to come in and stab you, and raged against a treasonous fly buzzing around his orange face – a fly that, according to drumpf, would not have been allowed to molest him just two short years ago.
Whew… talk about nuts:
“MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough marveled at Donald Trump’s weekend-long “meltdown” as Kamala Harris continues to build momentum just weeks ahead of the November election.
The Republican presidential nominee escalated his personal attacks on the vice president by slurring her as “mentally impaired” and saying she should be “impeached and prosecuted” for allegedly allowing an “invasion” at the southern border.
“Five weeks to go until the November election,” said “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski. “Former president Donald Trump spent the weekend campaigning in several key battleground states and used extreme and dark rhetoric to attack his opponent, vice president Kamala Harris. [He is] doubling down, if possible.”
Joe disputed Mika’s characterization of drumpf’s insane rambling calling it more of a meltdown than a “doubling down”.
Watch out kids, grandpa is melting: (Good stuff starts about a minute and a half in.)
For those who prefer reading to watching on YouTune, Morning Joe had this to say about Trump’s rhetoric:
“The producers rolled nearly four minutes of video of Trump rambling darkly about crime, election fraud, immigrants and Harris’ mental capacity, culminating in a bizarre rant about spotting a fly near his podium.
“‘Two years ago, I would not have had a fly up here, but things are changing rapidly,'” Scarborough said, quoting Trump. “I mean, this is – Republicans obviously are concerned about this for good reason. They’re talking about how he’s doubling down. Of course, they usually whisper, they usually whisper these things. I wrote some of these notes down. She’s mentally impaired, he says, to the crowd’s applause. Nice crowd. She’s mentally disabled, he says, to crowd’s applause. Nice crowd. She’s a, quote, stupid person. This actually has Republicans doing something Republicans never do.”
“The New York Times shows Republicans are actually being critical of Donald Trump,” he continued. “Republicans fault Trump over insults to his rival. Front of the national section of the New York Times – this is Larry Hogan, who is running for Senate. ‘That’s insulting not only to the vice president but to people that actually do have mental disabilities. I’ve said for years that Trump’s divisive rhetoric is something that we can do without.’ Lindsey Graham also critical of Donald Trump’s statements this weekend. Rep. Tom Emmer, a Minnesota Republican who is helping J.D. Vance for the upcoming debate, tried to distance himself. He said, ‘I think we should stick to the issues.’ Yet, here he goes.”
If we have reached the stage in this program where even Republicans like Rep. Emmer are growing a spine and actually publicly noting that the guy is nuts, where will we be in five weeks?
Because clearly, when confronted with the possibility that he is quite likely to suffer an ego crushing loss, Trump does not have the strength to face his future with courage but instead is retreating into madness.
And that is indeed a short retreat.
“If we have reached the stage in this program where even Republicans like Rep. Emmer are growing a spine and actually publicly noting that the guy is nuts, where will we be in five weeks?”
Within 10 minutes of Trump’s learning of these “grievous attacks” on him by GOPers, he’ll be calling out each one as a “RINO” and he’ll call on his “loyal forces” to teach them all a lesson. Within a day, every single one of these “spines” will have become no better than the cartilaginous things that sharks and rays possess (at best; more likely, the “spines” will be no better than mounds of jelly) as these GOPers will all kowtow before Trump, begging his forgiveness for their “outrageous lapses” in fealty towards their emperor.
He hasn’t retreated anywhere. He’s always been a malignant narcissist coddled by money and a legal system that allows the rich to walk. He just has no tolerance for anything but absolute admiration and the freedom to live in self delusion.
Gonna get interesting. If you’re gonna call your opponent “mentally impaired,” you better have evidence. Note that she hasn’t called him senile, though there is plenty of evidence for that.
