The misty water colored memories of the way they were, namely Donald Trump and Marco Rubio seem to have slipped the “liddle” man’s mind. Senator Rubio actually is on Trump’s short list, which as of right now is the longest VP list in history. A usual short list is maybe three or four candidates, Trump has got something like ten, if we are to believe: Kristi Noem, Nancy Mace, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, (although rumor has it that VR would get a job running Homeland Security in the case of a Trump win) Elise Stefanik, Tulsi Gabbard, and possibly even Tom Cotton and Ron DeSantis have been mentioned as potential running mates. So it’s quite the field. Start at 2:49 on this tape and laugh at “The MAGA-pprentice: VP.” The back and forth between Rubio and Trump is to die for.
Let’s see who ends up getting the crown. It could possibly be Rubio, if he decides that he wants the “honor” and is oblivious to the downside. And it goes without saying that if Jimmy Kimmel’s staff could find the footage he found that a Trump/Rubio ticket would attract exactly the same scrutiny.
Again, all the roads lead to one conclusion: The GOP is finished. This is positively Biblical and the Bible has addressed it, in the book of Matthew, “A house divided amongst itself cannot stand.” We literally see that in the House of Representatives, but it is the entire party. Mitch McConnell is leaving power and the pretenders to his throne are all pretty much second rate with the exception of John Thune, who is legitimate. If Thune can get the leadership spot, it will be better than if some MAGA clown obtains it and you have a complete circus in both the House and Senate.
More will be revealed as the year progresses. I think the tale will continue to be told by the roster of people who leave. In the not too distant future there is going to be a tipping point, possibly right after the election, and the disgruntled, dismayed and disenfranchised of the Republican party will come together and decide that it’s time to form a new party on the ruins of the old.
Trump will of course be screaming WITCH HUNT! and STOLLEN ELECTION! and his usual blather and MAGA will have a considerable set back in November. Again, this is contingent not only on Trump losing but on the electorate rejecting other MAGAs, such as Lauren Boebert.
It’s impossible to predict what will happen until you see the cast of characters that is left, but my guess is that when the dust settles and if the MAGAfied GOP has taken the beating that it looks to be set up for, then the survivors will finally say, “enough,” and begin to build something new.
