Wow. Constituents of NY-3 are mad as hell and they’re not going to take it anymore. George Santos has evaded accountability so far, but after today, he is gone. He has to be.
When you literally have the hallways of Congress jammed with upset constituents demanding your head, I don’t see how you maintain in the face of that.
These videos tell the story. The constituents that speak are articulate, composed, and they present their case — and their petition — courteously and professionally. Any one of them could do a better job representing the district than Santos is doing.

How? Santos only took the job so he could have free healthcare paid by taxpayers for life. The bigger question remains: How did the sophisticated people of Long Island vote for him?

I’ll hand it to McCarthy’s staffer, at least he didn’t open the door and exclaim, “Oh, my God.” But then if he’s been with Kevin for a while he probably has seen a few sights. But I doubt if he’s seen anything like this one.
It looks like Kevin’s majority is going to shrink just that much more. I see no way around this. None.
And what is heartwarming, downright inspiring in fact, is that this is democracy in action. Right here. The people have been duped, they’re fed up and they see that Kevin McCarthy is going to do nothing on his own. So they have forced his hand by showing up, petition in hand, and making their demands known. They’re standing up for their rights.
This is an amazing day in American history. I am glad to be here to see this. My eyes are moist. The people shall overcome the corruption of the GOP.
Start the countdown clocks. Anybody want to bet how long Santos lasts?

- He’ll resign by the end of the week?
- He won’t resign at all and this debacle will get even worse?
- McCarthy will have an epiphany and tell him he has to leave?

I’ll think Santos will resign today. This is not good press for anybody. It is devastating press for McCarthy. It merely underscores how he can’t lead his way out of a paper bag.
It will be 3., the first requirement for republican success is shamelessness, he doesn’t care what others think.
I agree, he hasn’t been phased by anything, so far. He will have to be forced out, somehow.
You may well be right. But consider, these people are not going to go away. This is now on a different plane. This isn’t a bunch of pearl clutching lefties preaching about moral standards, this is Santos constituency, delivering petitions to his higher ups in Congress.
Now the higher ups are on the hook as well.
I don’t see how he remains in office much longer. But we will watch the show unfold. That we will.
Cue the GQP claim this is a riot, worse than Jan 6.

Kreepy Kevin won’t allow anyone to resign, he needs every warm body, no matter how distasteful. Santos will have to be voted out and that can’t happen tomorrow.
In theory, I agree. But in this particular instance, this situation is only going to escalate. McCarthy needs the votes, but votes aren’t going to do him much good if he tanks his own career.
I think McCarthy will cut Santos loose in order to do some kind of face saving. McCarthy can’t argue that Santos’ constituents elected him, ergo they love him, when those same constituents are in the hallways calling him a liar and a fraud.
Definitely #3. Notice how much more the crowd was hassled at the speaker’s office? Look at everything Trump has PROVABLY done and yet he remains free. Judges have said he violated the law. The Jan 6th committee says he violated several laws and made a criminal referral. Ms. Willis is still in process on a phone call WE ALL HEARD! Hell, even the effort to smear the Russia investigation by Durham didn’t find what they were looking for BUT THE ITALIANS notified them they had evidence on Trump. So why think Santos is a big deal? These fuckers will remain ensconced in their cushy jobs until the media & the voting public get as fired up as the folks on long Island, ironically a playground for the rich, like cape Cod and the islands. So, if they are willing to take a 5 hour bus ride to be met by a lowly staffer then maybe there’s hope. Call your representative, the DOJ, any and every goddamn body to raise hell for right instead of might. Otherwise, silence will only bring more of the same shit. Oh and don’t worry if they sic the capital police or anyone else on you. That will be a sign you are an irritant and GOOD FOR YOU! This country was founded by those willing to put their own ass on the line. Being fat, lazy and complacent will only encourage fascism.
He’s dug in like a tick all the way up in the ear canal. A zombie tick. Sadly, he’s not going anywhere, at least anytime soon. I hope I’m wrong and you’re right. I really do. However if I had to bet on it he’s going to keep trying to stick it out, and McCarthy will keep providing enough cover for him to do so.
Maybe he won’t resign tonight, because it is SOTU night and the contrast would be very bad optics, but I honestly don’t know how he can stay in office. The constituents aren’t going to just disappear. If he can’t be recalled, then he must be removed by Congress. If the GOP-led Congress wants to sit there and not listen to the continued outcry of the voters of NY-3, how is that going to play, optically speaking?
If Santos had a shred of class, he would resign, but I certainly don’t see that happening UNLESS McCarthy tells him it’s the best move.
In any event, Santos is finished in politics. He’s not going to get reelected after this.

McCarthy is absolutely the most lily-livered ass. How did he ever get even close to being speaker? Let’s face it – he sees qualities in Santos that he has himself – opportunism, lack of ethics, and a desire to get what he wants at the cost of the nation. Why should a 100 angry lied to constituents think they can ruin his chance to be king of the gavel?
Ursula he has the backing of another traitor and serial liar who claims the voters elected him, although ‘him’ was a total fabrication.

Neither Santos or any other GQP member of the house give a flying tinker’s damn what their constituents, or any of the rest of us, think. It’s all about having power at any cost.
