It’s intriguing to watch how a myth is born. We all grew up on myths, whether it was the parables from the Bible or beloved fairy tales. Now we live at a time in history where the myth of a stolen presidential election in 2020 is fueling the 2022 midterms and becoming the central plank of the GOP platform for 2024. That is how policy-bankrupt the Republican party is, not to mention morally and intellectually, that the Big Lie is their best shot; or at least it’s a shot that they’re willing to take.

Donald Trump called for “patriots” to show up at the Michigan capitol today and demand an audit. Here’s what that looks like.

Here’s an interesting tidbit: this right-wing radio host is openly attacking the GOP. This is why they’re terrified to not go along with the Big Lie. At least, that’s what I surmise. I have never witnessed a situation where a lawmaker was terrified of his or her constituents until just the past few years.

Now here is where the rubber meets the road. This is all a money ploy. Guilfoyle has been keeping some late hours, apparently.

Kimberly took over as leader of the PAC from Corey Lewandowski. I would love to see the job description for that position. “Sexual harassment charges not mandatory, but preferred. Extra points will be given for convictions or settlements.”

It’s all about the grift. Although, in truth, this may backfire on them. You don’t see any arrests being made for widespread voter fraud, because none took place. So if the MAGAs think that widespread fraud took place but nobody got punished for it, it may very well decrease their voter turnout. Why bother if it’s all rigged?

In any event, the Big Lie has the effect of eroding trust in free and fair elections and that is deadly. That is Donald Trump’s legacy to politics.

Finally, here is a Democratic lawmaker, Donna Lasinski (Ron gets her name wrong below. This is the correct name.) being drowned out, as the voice of reason so frequently is.

The 2022 midterms are going to be the wildest in our history with this going on. Trump is ramping up both his rhetoric and his fundraising emails because he needs the money. This is his best tool, the Big Lie.

  1. I wonder why these brain dead children aren’t MORE afraid of US, the majority. If, let’s say, they bring fascism to total political power in America by ACTUALLY stealing power in the backrooms, & if the majority were actually willing to fight them, they would lose. Thom Hartmann doesn’t think we have the will until it comes to each family. It WOULD come to our doors. We may be a flawed democracy, but this isn’t a fledgling democracy of a few years in a small country. Propaganda cuts both ways. We’ve had 240 years of it & I doubt the fascists would find it that easy to rule. After all, what’s to stop freedom fighters from going2 THEIR HOMES & OFFICES TO WRECK THEIR WORLD??? Answer? Nothing.

    • For some reason, they think they ARE the majority. “Everybody I know thinks like this!” Yes, and most of us don’t know 81 million people.
Clearly, Repubs don’t understand how math works.

    • Yeah, but with most of those countries, they’d have to learn a language that’s not ‘Murkan (I wouldn’t call their first language “English”–it’s like a butchered form of English). And, at least two of those countries would mean they might have to come into contact with people of color on a too-frequent basis (in Brazil and the Philippines, being white doesn’t grant any kind of privilege–at least, not with the kind of finances most of the MAGAts have).

Not a believer but, as the old saying goes, “From your mouth* to God’s ear.”

*Or, in this case, your keyboard.

  3. Kimmie is calling for audits in all 50 states and I’m calling for the winning lottery numbers. Let’s see who gets what they want first.
